An interesting thing happened at Ivy today. I was walking past one of the science labs and I hear the professor yelling 'The sharks are for dissecting, not for licking' at a student.

One of the bad things about being stuck in this place is that you run the very real risk of running into people you've dealt with at work when it didn't go well.

Like when I was doing my grocery shopping this morning and had to deal with a woman whose adoption application we denied last month. There was shrieking involved on her end and sarcasm involved on mine.

Because as it turns out, the appropriate response to near incoherent ranting about how dare we not let her take home that precious little puppy is not "So this is the first time you've heard 'no'? Learn it, embrace it, embroider it on a pillow. You'll hear it often."

Calling any other Madison Valley Dog Owners!

We've been here for a long time now (Arrival date mid-October--has it really been three months already??) and still haven't found a solid dog park to play in. Does anyone have a good reccomendation? I've been to a couple, and they're just... well, they weren't that great. Either there was nowhere to sit, or everything was disgusting and not kept well, or the owners didn't watch their dogs, or there were no other dogs to play with.

Am I just hitting the wrong spots?

I am incredibly grateful that we didn't spend the first three weeks of December going "no, you cannot adopt an animal if you want to give it as a gift, you have to bring the person in with you".

Of course, that was probably because I flat out refused a couple adoption attempts at the start of the month and nobody else wanted to deal with me.
