With school coming to a close for summer vacation, Jean found herself with more free time on her hands. Part of her did dread school coming to a close because it had provided a much needed distraction at times from her thoughts. Thoughts that had become troubled with all that seemed to be happening in Madison Valley. All of it seemed to be leading up to something big and Jean feared what might lie on the horizon for all of them. The last event had caused people to become others and forget their entire time in Madison Valley. Jean had been spared, but many people were unfortunately caught up in the madness of it all. Before that was nightmares and yet other strange occurrences that could not be explained. Most just summed it up as being part of living under the dome, but Jean? Jean wasn't so naive or complicit and she knew the Professor wasn't either. After facing down Apocalypse, there was no way you could not see things in what happened around her, especially for her.
Despite destroying him, what she felt that night, the death of thousands, had stayed with Jean Grey. Nothing could take those memories, those feelings from her, and despite everything she tried, all it eventually seeped back in, forever imprinted upon her mind and upon her heart and soul. Now one of those precious distractions that kept things like that at bay was about to disappear for three months and Jean wasn't at all sure how to fill the gap it left. It was why she was currently lingering at the library, scanning the shelves from something complicated to read in order to distract herself from where her mind always seemed to head when she was idle: sad, dark places. Places where that other part of her, the Phoenix, resided and where memories of her powers awakening remained. No, she wouldn't go there when she'd already been ruminated on Apocalypse and what all of the past events of this town may end up bringing. As it was, in the attempt to settle her mind and emotions, a book slid from the shelf and hovered in front of her before promptly slamming itself into the nearest wall.
The sound caused Jean to jump and that sacred silence of the library to shatter instantly. Blushing brilliantly, Jean hurried over to retrieve it, murmuring an apology to all those around her as she did. At least she hadn't hit someone with it or simply shredded it to pieces.
