I really have no idea what to think about this.

Is this real Is anything real

I mean, on the surface, it seems absolutely insane. The idea that there are portals and magic...I believe in science. I don't believe in that sort of thing. Everything I know says this can't be real. But I'm a fiction in a body that belonged to someone else, so who's to say what's real And yet...here we are. I guess I'll have to reevaluate my beliefs.

I do believe the word I'm looking for here is 'quaint', which is largely based on the discerning lack of unpleasant things aimed in my immediate direction, never mind the fact nobody seems to have one bad word to say about my coat. 'Course, a man with too much time on his hands ain't a thing that I've ever been good at.

Now, given that the lack of ability to depart, the small town nature of this peaceful little berg, and the fact that there seem to be a whole mess of folk who could turn you into a pretzel, I suppose this is where it'd be prudent to go askin' the best way for a man to make a livin' for himself. No ship, nothin' to shoot at or smuggle and no honest delivery work across the black means I'm in prime placement for a change of career.

Qualifications include:
Dashing good looks
Quick witty tongue
Good with a sword
Better at dancing
Not the type to make a fuss about nothin'.
Timely within reason.

Being stuck in the dirt ain't exactly my idea of a good time and -- though I can't believin' I'm spoutin' it -- any tips for passing the time that don't include sitting on a very cold roof and looking up, would be most appreciated.

Well now, if that ain't a sight I never quite expected again, I don't rightly think I'd know what was. Whatever's been in my food lately, I'll take it for dreams of places this nice.

There seems to be a celebration of sorts comin' up around here. Don't suppose those what's left of us would be keen on sittin' down to partake, even if the only part we get up to is the part where we have burnin' drinks from fancy glasses?

I always was curious what it was like. This could be educational, I suppose.

All right, 'nuff's enough. Some of you may know me, and others not so much. The name's Malcolm, but you can call me Mal. I used to be the Captain of a transport ship, once upon a time and, well, seein' as there ain't n space travel, money's runnin' low and as I got a powerful need to eat, I gotta find myself some kind of workin' to get to. Seein' as it's gotta be honestI don't have the most varied set of trades in the whole wide world, lets keep this real simple.

I'm a fine courier, takin' things from point A to point B is kinda what I do and, while I understand that there's a post office in town, if you can't be bothered to make the run and just need somethin' delivered real quick, you just go ahead and give a shout. We'll figure out payment and then you can consider the job good and done. That bein' said, of the fine eateries in town are in need of deliverin' folk, that works too.

Been three months on the dirt here, and I'm still lookin' up, hopin' to find a ship in the sky.

My shuttle is no longer attached to its ship. It's just sitting in the middle of grass and trees. It's a lovely spot, but this is all very strange.

There's an unfortunate bit of truth to this place that I ain't takin' too with any kind of rush, but seein' as the coin's a bit dried up and I do have a powerful need to eat and keep my world spinnin'...

How's about some suggestions on a place of employ? Or anybody need anything ferried from place to place in a clandestine fashion? I've got plenty of experience dealin' with ships, guns, goods, and cargo, but without a ship, I ain't too likely to find work what caters to none of my strengths. I hear tell the people of this town are of the friendly sort in matter of such dislocation, so, there it is.
