July 14, 2013The City Council of Madison Valley has unanimously passed a resolution welcoming the new arrivals.
Although none have been able to discover the exact cause of the present emergency, we hope that the citizens of Madison Valley, as well as those who have arrived here through the
portal will remain calm. We are contacting all scientists in the area concerning this matter, but the inability to reach research centers in Cincinnati, Louisville and Indianapolis is slowing our progress. We do, however, have the scientists at River College working on the problem as we speak. If any among the refugees have any particular skill at physics we ask for your help as well.
It appears that phones and networks are working only when used to contact those within River County, and that any contact with the outside world is not possible at this time. There is, however, no need to panic. The shelves at Wal-mart, Kroger, and Foods Plus all seem to have been restocking themselves at night, although we do not know how this is occurring. There is no shortage of food in Madison Valley, and we state again, there is no cause for panic.
To each the refugees, the City Council of Madison Valley will be handing out a $1000 prepaid VISA debit card. We are sorry that it is not more, but it is all that we can afford at the moment. We hope that it will keep you comfortable until this emergency ends, or until you are able to find a job to support you. We will also provide proper housing for all who arrive in the form of an apartment at the Madison Valley River Park Apartments. While not luxury apartments, these are comfortable apartment homes within walking distance of the River Walk and within walking distance of most of the shops and stores of Downtown Madison.
AT&T has also been kind enough to donate enough smartphones and iPads for each of the refugees to use, and have wired the apartments with ATT U-verse Internet and Televison. As said before, any communication with the outside world is impossible, and while it seems that we may download content
from the internet, we are unable to
upload anything, or send information outside of the County line. It also appears that our emergency has not been noticed by the outside world - although we are not certain how this is possible.
The Madison Valley Police will be patrolling the town and county to discourage any looting or riotous behavior that may occur. We urge you again to remain calm. There is no present danger to the life or health of anyone who arrives in Madison Valley. It is an inconvenience to us all, but we hope to have the problem solved quickly.
