I think I actually miss Gotham. The baddies may have been...weirder, more er..colorful. But at least it kept things interesting.

There used to be a guy named Psycho Mantis on my world. Supposedly the "greatest psychokinesist and telepathy practitioner in the world", according to his own words. Really twisted bastard. Probably one of the most sadistic soldiers to serve in special forces units in our world.

He used to force people to put their guns to their head and blow their own brains out, using his psychic abilities. Snake - my brother - killed him during Shadow Moses, after he attempted to impede his path with the mission. Personally I thought he was kinda overrated, because what idiotic soldier wouldn't use guns in addition to his powers? At any rate, he still wasn't someone to be trifled with. I'm mentioning this because being here, seeing this place, it makes me realize that every place is the same.

People abuse their powers, and the same motivations that plague the world I'm from - power lust, greed, desire to control others - plague every other world in existence, apparently. It doesn't matter whether you're a person, or a demon from some other realm. Evil is evil. It's funny. There are vampires and demons here that pride themselves on being better than humans, but the fact is they're more like humans than they can ever imagine. Or perhaps it's humans who can be more demonic in nature than anyone would believe.

Forgive the ponderings of an old man. I don't know what brought this on.

I've been in this city for several weeks, and I think I've gotten used to it. It's more or less the same as the Los Angeles in my world, with the exception of a lot more monsters and vampires running around, and the year is several years in the past.

I've been doing odd jobs around the city to earn money, but I'm growing kind of bored with them. There are vampires to kill, but they seem nearly unlimited, and it doesn't pay. Not unless you count the satisfaction of seeing those undead bastards' heads roll across the ground as payment.

I've heard of an appealing fight club, but I'm not able to take part. I think I might have an unfair advantage with the suit. And I'm not crazy enough to try without it. Once I might have been the greatest unarmed combatant on my world, but those days are long past, thanks to some genetic manipulation by my enemies.

So, what other jobs are there around here for a former President, with military experience?

A pale creature attacked me when I was coming out of a weapon shop the other night. I broke his neck, but that wasn’t enough to put him down. I had to use my swords to take him down. It's funny, I'd heard there were vampires here, but I didn't truly believe it until I encountered them. Consider it a consequence of sticking to daylight and refraining from the boards most of the time.

He reminded me of one of my soldiers, with his healing ability. He said he was 100 years old, and that he was going to kill me like the ‘pathetic human weakling’ that I was. Some missiles and a sword through the neck quickly dissolved that argument. How is this possible? Obviously I'm referring to the history of these creatures - what generated them and what is the extent of their numbers? How can vampires exist here and not on my world?

That I know of. There was always something suspicious about that Fear guy in the Cobra Unit.

Where the hell am I?

This is ludicrous. The papers say this is L.A., and that it's 2006. But that's not possible.

One minute I was in the core of Arsenal Gear, ready to confront an enemy agent. Now I'm here, and I haven't the faintest indication of how I got here.

Thank God my equipment came with me. At least I'm not totally defenseless in this place.

Somehow, the Patriots must be responsible for this...
