House hunting really is something around these parts, isn't it? I really am beginning to feel like Goldilocks, a little too picky about what I want. And I know I could probably fix things up, but then there's the decision of renting or buying, and buying feels like such a commitment when none of us know how long we're here for and why does every realtor assume I want midcentury modern when I've told them specifically that isn't what I want? Rude.

Has anyone actually figured out what this Bad Moon festival is coming up? I can't seem to get any answers from anyone when I ask around.

Let's do something of a trivia/get to you know post. I haven't seen one of these in a while or something like it and we've had newer people come in. We have the prom coming up, so it may lead to good conversation starters.

I'll start simple with five facts about myself.

1. Coffee is absolutely delicious and my favorite new thing in this world.
2. I actually like playing chess
3. I enjoy a good book and will gladly spend time reading
4. I probably don't have a fashion sense at all (military back home, everything was standard issue)
5. I miss our horses back home.

And something I'd like to try while I'm here:

Karaoke (is that how I spell that?). I've been told I have a good speaking voice; I wonder if that transfers to good singing too.

Mr Hammond truly is an excellent realtor. I went to see him to discuss properties that might be better suited to the keeping of an active hound and it seems all the paperwork has already been done and the keys were waiting to be picked up. How very convenient. I assume this is the same mysterious force that's been providing employment and housing all along.

Hope everyone is having like a super great day or whatever! We still have spots open for the singles weekend event so please let me know if you're interested :)

[Volunteers]

Okay we're set on venue, and I think decorations are covered, we need some of you super handy can carry heavy things types to be on stand-by in between events to change the scenery a bit between things!

Also it would be like really great if everyone volunteering participated in at least one event to seem more inclusive!

If anyone has any ideas for anything else, let me know before Friday!

Dear residents of Pickman. If we haven't met, I'm a knighted Knight of Serbia! But you can call me Joel.

I was in town yesterday and someone approached me, saying I was late for work. Like what the what? But I went because of course I did. I need the pay check! So I went to the office, and there was a desk with my name on it and everything! I'm a certified Realtor, and I guess Dunwich doesn't care if my license is only good in California. But then I was like, if Carl is here I'm going to cry. Thankfully Carl isn't here, but neither is Sheila and for that reason I might cry anyway.

But I'm getting distracted. Point is, if you're planning to move out of Pickman now or in future, I can help! I'd be happy to help! It's kind of what I do so come talk to me!

I know there's a movie theater in town but don't you kind of wish there was like. A lounge or something in Pickman? You think if I think about it hard enough it'll just show up, like with the party room?

I think I'm going to order a bunkbed. It could be like. A couch and bed combo and free up some space.

Private to Losers
Sooo... We all good? Normal as normal can be? Or do we need to have a drink or ten about it?

Super annoyed to have to say I am 100% myself.

So much fun going makes me feel like a parent at a school function. Definitely not my happy place.

Hello good people of Dunwich. And not so good people, too. I don't want to call you out, but I also don't want to leave you out. You deserve all the hellos and how-do-you-dos too.

Oh boy. So. Hi. I'm Joel. I'm looking for my wife Sheila. Or my daughter Abby. I'd even be happy to see my not!son Eric Bemis. But really, Sheila is priority. Because of reasons. Lots of reasons. The first being she's my wife. The second, I'm supposed to spend all of eternity with her, so if she was here with me, that'd be great.

ANd if she's not, well. That's not so great. What else? Oh. I'm hungry. WHere's a guy got to go to get a steak around here?

WELCOME
Your new life starts here.
CODE BY

ARRIVAL

The thick, ghastly haze of the mist, once practically opaque to the naked eye, fades and opens up to a nostalgic homegrown New England town. A friendly gazebo, freshly painted white sits on a neatly mown lawn at the center of the town square. Vehicles stop at the redlight while locals cross the street, birds chirp in the trees, and a school bus stops to pick up a few children in oversized backpacks. Pedestrians walk by you without a second glance. Did they not see you suddenly appearing out of nowhere? How could they not have noticed that all encompassing fog? And why doesn’t your obviously otherworldly attire catch their attention? This appears to be a small, close knit community. And it’s clear you’re not from around these parts.

But these are simply the first of many mysteries you’re about to discover.

The further you investigate your new surroundings, the more ominous this seemingly quaint and colloquial town becomes. There’s something dark beneath its pleasant guise. You can’t shake the chill at the back of your neck and the sense that someone—or something—is watching you. Then there’s the odd graffiti on the alleyway walls and the way the locals talk about certain locations. And while the mist is gone, there are places in town that make you reminisce about the mist. Places that feel supernaturally thin. Thin enough to let in whispers from the other side. Or maybe even screams.

And don’t worry if you hear laughter or the jingling chimes of carnival coming from the rain gutters in the street. That’s just your imagination. There’s nothing down there.

Nothing that floats.
