I was in town yesterday and someone approached me, saying I was late for work. Like what the what? But I went because of course I did. I need the pay check! So I went to the office, and there was a desk with my name on it and everything! I'm a certified Realtor, and I guess Dunwich doesn't care if my license is only good in California. But then I was like, if Carl is here I'm going to cry. Thankfully Carl isn't here, but neither is Sheila and for that reason I might cry anyway.

But I'm getting distracted. Point is, if you're planning to move out of Pickman now or in future, I can help! I'd be happy to help! It's kind of what I do so come talk to me!

The finer things club  is going to meet on Thursdays, at 8:00 pm, starting this Thursday the 11th. 

On another note - next Sunday, a week from today, might be a hard day for people who've lost their moms and people who are missing their moms while they're in Dunwich. Would anyone be interested in meeting up? It wouldn't have to be like a support group. It could be just hanging out and not being alone.

When I couldn't fall asleep last night and it was well after midnight when I decided on a verrrrrry short walk around the block because I swear there's like shadows out there that shouldn't fucking be there, I started thinking about the things people hide. Like in their houses, you know? The stuff you don't see, and the things that kind of get swept underneath the bed when people come over, or have their own dedicated spot elsewhere like that old plastic skeleton you and your brothers rolled up into an old carpets to freak out anyone who ever needs to get to working in our attic and gets just a little too curious, you know?

And then I couldn't stop thinking about it and everything got real sus and now I think I know how uncle Snake feels like when he gets going about the thisses and thatses and how two-headed calves are a portend of horrible things to come and we should just get the digger and expand the underground bunker right now, but you're probably not vibing with this at all?

Being curious about the physical stuff that people hide, that's what I mean. Not the paranoid thoughts.

ARRIVAL

The thick, ghastly haze of the mist, once practically opaque to the naked eye, fades and opens up to a nostalgic homegrown New England town. A friendly gazebo, freshly painted white sits on a neatly mown lawn at the center of the town square. Vehicles stop at the redlight while locals cross the street, birds chirp in the trees, and a school bus stops to pick up a few children in oversized backpacks. Pedestrians walk by you without a second glance. Did they not see you suddenly appearing out of nowhere? How could they not have noticed that all encompassing fog? And why doesn’t your obviously otherworldly attire catch their attention? This appears to be a small, close knit community. And it’s clear you’re not from around these parts.

But these are simply the first of many mysteries you’re about to discover.

The further you investigate your new surroundings, the more ominous this seemingly quaint and colloquial town becomes. There’s something dark beneath its pleasant guise. You can’t shake the chill at the back of your neck and the sense that someone—or something—is watching you. Then there’s the odd graffiti on the alleyway walls and the way the locals talk about certain locations. And while the mist is gone, there are places in town that make you reminisce about the mist. Places that feel supernaturally thin. Thin enough to let in whispers from the other side. Or maybe even screams.

And don’t worry if you hear laughter or the jingling chimes of carnival coming from the rain gutters in the street. That’s just your imagination. There’s nothing down there.
