Dunwich: A Creepypasta Panfandom Game

The finer things club is still happening tonight.  It'll be fall themed, with foods that I hope will be new to some of you.  Some of the recipes were new to me.  There'll be plenty of food - roasted squash croquettes with yuzu crème fraiche, mini turkey pot pies with cranberry gastrique, turkey and dressing croquettes with sage aioli,  poached pear flatbread, pumpkin arancini, honey balsamic roasted root vegetables, etc.  Mostly small bites, but enough of them to make a meal, I think. Dessert too, salted caramel cookies, apple pie croissants, pumpkin spice lamington.   We can talk about fall things too, like the best hiking trails in the state park for looking at leaves.

If you're not familiar with the club, it's for trying new things, not necessarily fancy things.  It's open to everyone, from 8 to 10 at MIST.  I could use some help in getting the food from my apartment to MIST if anyone wants to volunteer.   I've been stress cooking, there'll be lots.

Afterwards, would anyone be interested in an insomnia club?  It would be for those of us who might have trouble sleeping or not want to sleep tonight with the memory stuff happening.  Just hanging out, it doesn't have to be a support group.

Next week's finer things will be Halloween themed since I've noticed this is the first Halloween for Lexa some of you. There'll be jack-o-lantern carving, bring a pumpkin if you can.

For anyone who had interest in learning chess, come by tomorrow evening. I'm at Sixth Street Cafe. We'll play a few games or make a tournament of it if enough people show.

So. A couple weeks ago I found this weird carving at the Historical Society, followed by this weird symbol. A couple of us have been looking for where else it might have popped up in Dunwich and we've found it on a book by a former resident in town but I swear I've seen it elsewhere and can't remember.



It's related to some...IDK if its an old god or what really, but its something that used to be worshipped in Dunwich a long time ago and comes from the ocean. I think. The book's kind of vague on that and the chapter about this particular thing is missing because of course it is. So I'm just finding little references to it here and there in the rest of them.

But if you see it anywhere can you let me know?*

The dreams got worse. I still can't see what exactly it looks like.

I saw my coworkers under the water. They'd been killed. And other people I've never seen before were there too.

Plus it showed me a crown. I am so over things trying to give me crowns.

And I'm hearing it talk to me outside of my dreams which seriously can't be good.

Sword Practice/Training is now available at MIST on Mondays starting at 5:30 pm.

Several skills and those just starting will be present as well, so please do not feel anxiety as we have volunteers to help train and spar at all levels. Thank you to those who provided help with offering their skills, targets, hand made swords, and the rapiers that are available to those who would use them.

And apparently I've been formally tasked with teaching meditation at the gym. All ages, stages of knowledge, or those curious are of course welcome.

Any kid of sparring/training group going on here? I started training with my dad again after slacking off for a few years. I can practically hear my aunt lecturing me to work with different partners.

A few months ago, I asked for people with potential for emergency responders. I think it's time to not only update that, but put some people in charge of aspects of it.

• SEARCH AND RESCUE: There's a very specific set of skills needed for search and rescue. Physical training is an absolute necessity. FEMA has training courses to develop your Search and Rescue skills. I won't be taking anyone in this position who does not have a certification in first aid or CPR. Especially give that Sam Wilson does training for this on Sundays.
  
• FIGHTING: I don't care how you fight, just know that if we get a call for fighting, we're going to need all the people we can get.
  
• MAGIC: Whether this is magical fighting or just spells to dissuade people, clarify.
  
• MEDICAL/HEALING: What it says on the tin. Liv Moore is in charge of Medical here at Mist, so I'm going to put her in charge of this.

I've been noticing this woman coming into the café lately. A local Dunwich woman. Never gave her much thought, honestly. She seems nice, but she's been looking a bit tired, as of late. There's a kid with her, too, young, probably seven or eight.

At first, I wrote it off as Dunwich weirdness. But something just doesn't feel right about this kid.

Just a weird look in her eyes.

[ Padmé ] : I'm going to inquire about getting work so I can contribute to necessary funding. I was thinking of asking the task force they have here...I'm already offering to train and help with swords. I can't help but think it would be a waste if I didn't offer my true skills.

Do you think this is a good idea?

[ Natasha ] : I hope you are doing considerably well after all you've been through. Yelena was concerned but she did a very good job in keeping things in order while you were out. Not that I needed to tell you, but she's very good at what she does.

She also told me I needed to inquire officially with you about a time slot for Sword Practice at MIST. I thought Mondays for two hours sometime in late morning to noon would be alright. Please let me know your thoughts and anything else I need to do on the matter.

[ Sheriff Hopper ] : Are you the right one to contact if I would like to inquire about a job in helping with the defenses and peace keeping in town?

[ Yelena ] : How are you feeling?

I see there are many who are in need of healing, Yelena and the other volunteers have organized a place for you to come to at MIST in order to rest and wait. Those who can heal, if you would gather so we may utilize our energy together and give those who are using more energy for more difficult wounds backup to rest. Working together and having a space with others so no one gets overwhelmed is best. If you are too damaged to get here yourself let me know and we’ll make accommodations for you.

On another note, on the subject of those who had wanted to start that sword training together, once everyone is well of course—is anyone skilled in woodworking I can commission to make and assortment of practice swords? Possibly with necessary enhancements to take blows from our super strengthened friends and even the practice field.

If anyone else wants to lecture or direct their anger at Dustin, you can do so towards me instead. I'm his guide.

Introductions are in order. My name is Mr Jarvis and I arrived over a week ago. I've been keeping to myself to become familiar with the curious advancements of this place, including the technology and cultural aspects. I have a lot more to learn, but I feel confident enough to step forward and put myself out there, as it were.

I come from the year 1947, July to be exact, in the middle of a frightful heatwave, I might add. I was, and assuredly still am, employed as butler to Mr Howard Stark, who has been helping me adjust to my new surroundings.

That's all I can think of right now. Except to say that I've been told that it's likely I may come from the same universe as others present in town.

Oh, and the flamingo that you might have spotted around? That is Bernard Stark, he arrived with me but escaped. Please don't hurt him, belongs to Mr Stark and we're trying to retrieve him. Be careful, though, he's devious.

How was that? Did I write too much? Should I have given more details?

I have an odd question, or maybe not too odd... Would anyone be willing to share their swordsmanship knowledge with me? I'm not a novice with blades, just not with blades of this size.

Someone seems to have accidentally mistaken me for someone else and has given me their transmitter. Would anyone be kind enough to direct me on how to return it to them?

I can't sense There's an odd obstruction around the area encompassing the town and further. Does anyone have a ship that can get through, per chance?

ARRIVAL

The thick, ghastly haze of the mist, once practically opaque to the naked eye, fades and opens up to a nostalgic homegrown New England town. A friendly gazebo, freshly painted white sits on a neatly mown lawn at the center of the town square. Vehicles stop at the redlight while locals cross the street, birds chirp in the trees, and a school bus stops to pick up a few children in oversized backpacks. Pedestrians walk by you without a second glance. Did they not see you suddenly appearing out of nowhere? How could they not have noticed that all encompassing fog? And why doesn’t your obviously otherworldly attire catch their attention? This appears to be a small, close knit community. And it’s clear you’re not from around these parts.

But these are simply the first of many mysteries you’re about to discover.

The further you investigate your new surroundings, the more ominous this seemingly quaint and colloquial town becomes. There’s something dark beneath its pleasant guise. You can’t shake the chill at the back of your neck and the sense that someone—or something—is watching you. Then there’s the odd graffiti on the alleyway walls and the way the locals talk about certain locations. And while the mist is gone, there are places in town that make you reminisce about the mist. Places that feel supernaturally thin. Thin enough to let in whispers from the other side. Or maybe even screams.

And don’t worry if you hear laughter or the jingling chimes of carnival coming from the rain gutters in the street. That’s just your imagination. There’s nothing down there.

Nothing that floats.
