I'm being discharged from the hospital this afternoon, and was told to go home and rest. Which may be for the best, as I'm still feeling sluggish.


But is there still interest in a Thanksgiving meal? I've reached out to the Carbunkle House, and the space is ours if we're willing to handle most of the food. I need to let them know tomorrow morning about the mains- turkey and a vegan roast? If we can have everyone bring a dish or some kind of drink to share, it might be nice to gather together for a meal?

I understand that the origins of the holiday may be controversial, but the spirit of being together and finding things to be grateful for surely can't offend too many, can it?

I know Thanksgiving is almost here but also that a lot of people probably don't celebrate it. But would anyone be interested in a get together that's like a big feast? IDK something to look forward to might be good with all this darkness and being around people is supposed to be good.

We could throw in dancing or karaoke or games or all of the above depending on space and interest.

I've been doing my best to try and make light for everyone who needs it, but I was thinking of doing something for the whole group that might be helpful - a larger scale sun, or like, maybe we can get together outside of Pickman and I can make a bunch of little suns to light the area up and give people some sense of light?

The light I make is essentially sunlight, it can provide warmth as well.

I don't know, just a thought!

When you have to write a note to yourself saying not to go to work because you were fired for missing every away game of the season — which they knew was going to be an issue — because you knew you probably wouldn't remember it otherwise?

Online introductions are apparently the way to go here. Hi, everyone. I’m Mallory, new arrival and still a little bewildered about everything. This is a very impressive set up. I’ve ever had someone just willingly hand me a cellphone to keep while walking down the street. Or ever. But that solves one problem. Thanks to everyone at MIST for being so incredible to new arrivals.

Don’t go past the boundaries, there’s no known way back, weird things tend to happen, I can stay at Pickman house (thank you), MIST is a key place for all of us, avoid the Church, Time and Again will probably be my favorite place. Anything else I should be aware of from those who’ve already been through this?

Lastly, I hear there is a coven. Is there someone specific I can speak to there? A leader or council I should approach?

I got a job today. It's not what I was doing at home, but it's something I know I'll be great at so I can't complain. I start on Monday.

I suppose this is the beginning of really settling down here. Next thing you know, I'll be getting a house and a dog and all that shit.

People keep asking about learning how to play football. Real football, not the bastardized version Americans play. So Tartt and I are going to teach the sport. Maybe we'll form a team here, whatever local teams are called here where you don't travel because you fucking can't.

Now that things are cooling off a little bit, I have questions.

1. Has anyone noticed anything weird about themselves since The Shitty Shattering? That's what I'm calling the time we raided the church and fucked up their window and then it grew back.

2. Has anyone noticed any weird memory gaps since the Battle of the Brains? That's what I'm calling that time we had a dance fight something something psychics vs Fuckface.

I think I'll take that magical healing now.

Or maybe like one of them mechanical suits like in the movie Aliens. That would be cool. Could be like a cyborg.

Look, I don't pretend to know everything that's going on most of the time. I don't do this weird spooky magic shit. All I know is there are some people that are still trapped, and their song ain't working, so maybe they don't see the exit like I did or are scared or something.

So I'm going to go back in and try to help them escape, and if I see one of those nurses or whatever, maybe I can fight them on the inside and help. I don't want to just sit around when maybe I can do something, yeah?

Sabrina mentioned that with Isabel leaving, there's no one to really help people watching over those in trances. So, I'm going to offer. If you need food or coffee, or just a break so you can scream into a pillow -- let me know. I'm still learning to navigate the town, but I've got a phone with GPS so it won't be that difficult.

With the nightmares going round I just want to remind everyone that we have a regular support group at MIST on Wednesdays at 5:30pm. I'm also available to talk one on one if anyone would prefer that - before the superhero thing I was a licensed counselor with the Department of Veterans Affairs supporting people struggling after returning from military service, and I was halfway through a Masters in clinical psychology with the goal of becoming a trauma therapist. I do work weekday mornings but I can call out if I need to and most of the other things in my schedule can be moved around a bit.

ATTENTION: EVERYONE WITH HEADACHES

So we didn't say anything before because we weren't sure, but now that someone is FLOATING, this is almost exactly like something that happened back in our own town. There was this bad guy — thing, whatever — that we called Vecna. Vecna's like if you put the Creature from the Black Lagoon with a bunch of living vines that are a hive mind together with really strong telepathy and telekinesis.

He lives in the Upside Down, which is like a really fucked up version of our world except it's all dead and weird shit floats in the air. And the only living things are demogorgons, demodogs, and demobats. And Vecna.

ANYWAY, so back home, he wanted to rip open gates from the Upside Down to our world, so he picked four people to torment with headaches, nightmares, hallucinations, and then finally... floating in the air.... and a pretty gnarly death. Those left holes between our dimensions and when he got the fourth one, it made a big giant X and ripped open the town.

BUT THERE IS A WAY to stop him. You need a song, and you need to listen to it all the time. Find a song that speaks to you, that just grabs a whole of you and doesn't let go and listen to it. On repeat. The song keeps you grounded literally.

Hello, everyone. I've just arrived here, but wanted to introduce myself. I'm Kaneki, or Ken. Er, my full name is Ken Kaneki, so whichever you're most comfortable with.

I've already found some decent coffee here, which is a relief. I'd say I'm glad to be here, but I'm not so sure yet about that.

Not to alarm anyone -- but can someone explain what the fuck just happened?

ARRIVAL

The thick, ghastly haze of the mist, once practically opaque to the naked eye, fades and opens up to a nostalgic homegrown New England town. A friendly gazebo, freshly painted white sits on a neatly mown lawn at the center of the town square. Vehicles stop at the redlight while locals cross the street, birds chirp in the trees, and a school bus stops to pick up a few children in oversized backpacks. Pedestrians walk by you without a second glance. Did they not see you suddenly appearing out of nowhere? How could they not have noticed that all encompassing fog? And why doesn’t your obviously otherworldly attire catch their attention? This appears to be a small, close knit community. And it’s clear you’re not from around these parts.

But these are simply the first of many mysteries you’re about to discover.

The further you investigate your new surroundings, the more ominous this seemingly quaint and colloquial town becomes. There’s something dark beneath its pleasant guise. You can’t shake the chill at the back of your neck and the sense that someone—or something—is watching you. Then there’s the odd graffiti on the alleyway walls and the way the locals talk about certain locations. And while the mist is gone, there are places in town that make you reminisce about the mist. Places that feel supernaturally thin. Thin enough to let in whispers from the other side. Or maybe even screams.

And don’t worry if you hear laughter or the jingling chimes of carnival coming from the rain gutters in the street. That’s just your imagination. There’s nothing down there.

Nothing that floats.
