How are things going? Losing Eddie was difficult for a lot of people.

I have a few positions which have opened up, several of them are extremely important.

Head of Security: this position will monitor threats around Dunwich via email, online, police scans, etc for any strangeness going on that we may need to deploy our emergency responders. You will also work closely with the Dunwich PD, particularly Mistake PD members.

Head of Research: You will be responsible for managing our researchers and putting together the documentation that we keep on file of all the strange things that have happened to Dunwich as a whole, individuals who tell you something happened to them, and anything we have found on the town. This information will be available to all Mistakes through our online network. This includes: labeling photographs and items from the time capsule we found in June of last year, as well as cataloging gifts that people received — during the holidays or not.

Head of Research & Development: This position is not the same as above. It's strictly a science position. Updating the network, updating our servers, creating new gadgets for people. Updated changes to the Ghost Line. This position belonged to Tony Stark and then Spock after that, if that tells you what I'm looking for.

None of these positions are first come, first server. You will be interviewed, and your skills assessed.

Something is going on, I've never fainted in my life and just this week

So I was looking through my music collection, and there are a lot of songs in here that have been life changing. I'm 1200 years old, my collection stretches back pretty far, even songs my people sang on long voyages are now being recorded. There seems to be a song from every era that just melts my soul.

Like for instance "At Last" by Etta James. If she had been into women I would have worshiped at her feet, she would have replaced every one of my gods.

I can close my eyes and remember right where I was when I first heard these earth ending songs. Some have even stopped me in my tracks when I was running to hide from the sun.

I need to get my mind off of some things, so what's your soul melting song, or songs if there's more than one?

If I make a lot of hamantaschen and leave them at the front door of Pickman for everyone, and then drink some wine, that might make up for it.

I don't have any gifts of healing and I'm not much of a warrior, but I'd like to help in some way. I can help with meals, or with comforting people with stories, or simply sitting with someone if you need it. Please, let me know if there's anything I can do to assist any of you during these tribulations. I wish I could do more

Does everyone have emergency supplies like non-perishable food, can openers, flashlights, batteries, wind-up flashlights, phone chargers, first aid kits, rain gear, blankets, matches, towels, etc?   What about shit supplies like wet wipes, hand sanitizers, dry shampoo?  because they're coming into the goddamn bathrooms, even sinks aren't safe, what the fuck?  Who needs what?

For those of you in houses, have you done what you need for this weather?  Secured your windows and doors?   Trimmed any dead tree branches?   Made sure your gutters are clear?  Made sure there's nothing loose outside that can be blown around?  Checked your roofs?  Who needs help?

If you want access to the only books we've been able to find about the sea god, hit me up here. But I'll let you know that none of them go into how to hurt or kill him but I know some people need to read that shit for themselves.

The creatures turning your friends to stone are called medussas or gorgons, depending on the world you hail from.¹ Specifically the women with snakes for hair that curse you with a look, not the stone looking bull creatures that exhale petrifying breath.

The good news is there's a cure that works on any type of petrification. The bad news is making it. On my world it's an oil that can be created from yet another monster that turns people to stone: the basilisk. Lucky for us, the snakes on top of the medussa's head should be a suitable replacement.

Here's what I need:

• Someone with a magical background to help me create the medussa oil from their snake hair. I can provide guidance but arcane magic is not my specialty.²
  
  
• A few brave people willing to bring me the medussa bodies.³ Can't create snake oil without a few snakes.

Keep in mind, it takes a good amount of the oil to undo the curse. I suggest praying to the god of your choice that there's more than monster out there to provide us with snake oil.⁴

Should your friends actually get restored, you can thank Theo.⁵ She's the one that discovered what was turning people to stone. I suggest killing these creatures before they create more statues. Preferably without getting turned to stone yourself. Have fun with that.

¹Yeah, D&D is dumb sometimes. I hate that they're called medussas instead of gorgons. >.>

²The part of the arcane helper will be played by Stella via the plot sign up. If you want your magic character to get lightly roasted and turned down by Shadowheart, feel free to try and volunteer them.

³That being said, hunting the medussas gorgons is open to all the fighty/hero types! I'm going to create a mini OOC sign up in the comments. There are only three gorgons, so maybe make a group effort for each one and decide how you're going to get close to the monsters without getting turned to stone yourself. Whether you RP it out ICly or just use the OOC space below to plot out how it goes down is up to you! Either is fine! ♥

⁴Spoiler Alert: three gorgons are not enough to make eight cures. Why? Because I asked Dawn and Jess if I could be a huge asshole and they said yes. There's enough to make six cures. Sure, it'll be two of the NPCs that misses out, but hopefully it's fun for characters to agonize over. Or is that just me?

⁵Crystal was the last of the three plot sign ups, so giving them this part of the plot was how their character was involved.

Hey, could we meet up for coffee whenever suits? I just want to ask you about something you said to me last week.

Anyone else see that statue of a lady over by the Roxxcart? Has that always been there or is she new? Is Dunwich trying to get artsy on us?

There's apparently a barrier in the ocean now. Not like the Ghost Line, but an actual barrier that keeps you from going toward the Ghost Line.

If this is the sea god coming to claim his prize (his prize being a living, breathing human being), then he's trying to box us in. I'm going under the assumption that Sabrina is his ultimate design, so he's going to show up at some point. If he's a sea god, we can expect water beings. Unfortunately, I'm not sure what that looks like here.

We need to scout the Ghost Line immediately. I'm calling the emergency staff in for this. We need everyone except Healers/Doctors. Whoever this is is not honing in on one person this time, they've gotten another roughly ten of us. That's way more than last time. I'm not waiting for him to try and pick others off.

ALL MIST EMERGENCY RESPONDERS:

I need volunteers to scout along the Ghost Line — minus the ocean part — for any other barriers. We need to know what our strategy should be. I'll be your point of contact for any information.

I'm so sorry to everyone that's sleepwalking. It's rubbish, especially when you wake up in Cardiff and you live in London. Not that anything like that's going to happen here, with the ghost line. But, like, even just waking up in the street outside your block of flats is pretty shit, all kinds of disorienting. Maybe we should put a load of extra locks on everyone's front doors. It wouldn't need to be actual physical locks, though. Right? Could the magic people do something? I dunno, spells on the doorways that only let people who're awake out of them? Or something like that, maybe. Just an idea.

Or there's always ankle restraints?
