Do you know cocaine has medical uses, including for toothaches? You gotta wonder if people figured that toothache shit out when they were rubbing into their gums to get high, or they were using it for toothaches first and then figured out the getting high bit. Also, don't actually use it for toothaches, it'll ruin your teeth and medicine's come a long way.

That's not relevant to anything. I wanted to get your attention! I know the earthquake was minor and it's not likely to happen again. Even so, I'm going to be that guy. Here's shit you should do if you haven't already:
1. If you own a business or a home, make plans in case of another earthquake.
2. Stock up on food, water and supplies. Have at least one emergency kit and one grab and go bag. Make sure they're in a place that's easy to get to.
3. Put a flashlight near your bed in case of a blackout and good shoes in case of debris.
4. Check to make sure your heavy items - bookshelves, water heater, etc, are all secure. And your light fixtures too.
5. Make sure you don't have any mirrors or breakable shit hanging over your bed.
6. Come to my first aid and CPR classes.

I'm going to go supply shopping tonight if anyone wants to join me, you can. It's not stockpiling or hoarding if I take people with me.

Back home, they called earthquakes that didn't spread far - pocket earthquakes. I haven't heard anyone use that term here. I guess it's one of those differences from home.

A huge thank you to everyone who patronized the Todash Tavern and sampled the new dinner menu during the month of August. We I We appreciate all the support. It means a lot that I was able to share a little more of my culinary repertoire with you all.

But exciting news! We'll be returning to our roots for September!

That's right, for the foreseeable future, mozzarella sticks and onion rings are back on the menu for both lunch and dinner! Rest assured, all previous changes to the Todash menu still apply. Veggie burgers are still a thing, as are lactose and gluten-free options.

In light of last month's wealth of unsolicited feedback, the Todash Tavern is proud to present a new and improved dinner menu:

Appetizer
Maryland crab reduction with smoked haddock consommé jelly, diced Granny Smith apple, and caviar
or
Barbecued and pickled courgettes on a bed of deep-fried quinoa served with a roasted yeast sauce

Main
Sea bass with prawn tortellini, fennel purée and white wine sauce
or
Stuffed portobello mushroom served with silken tofu, marinated broccoli and beetroot ketchup

Dessert
Crème fraîche panna cotta with orange and mint sorbet
or
Caramel sous vide pineapple with pink peppercorns and a banana and passion fruit sorbet

Quite a pared-down menu for now, I know, but I am working on expanding it. And I am something of a one-man show until we hire more people, so please bear with me while Onion rings, burgers, and French fries will still be available during lunch service.

I'm spending more time at the overlook than I thought I would.  The mall and booths are interesting.  The music's a little loud.  It makes me miss shopping for real luxuries in New York though.  The quality here is not the same.   Who the fuck wants a cologne that smells like lobsters?

I'm hoping for the success of The Overlook Event. Seems to be driving up visitors to the Todash since we're Overlook adjacent. A lot of tourists, so be warned about that for now. They're mostly polite, but every once in a while a bouncer is tossing out a vomiting tourist.

I've been so busy that I haven't been able to revisit my idea of jump-starting my fashion design business on the side. I put more money into the Todash because surprise, businesses actually cost money to run. I enjoy it though. It's much more lowkey than having several set deadlines every year for fashion weeks.

I was wondering if there was anyone out there who would be interested in having dinners with me on Monday nights. It doesn't have to be an every week sort of thing, but I'd love to get to know more of you than I have recently. Losers? Sorry, this is one thing you're excluded from. Love you, but we have dinners a lot.

The Bad Moon Festival is this weekend. Last year, some weird things happened. Those of us who were at the Todash Tavern — someone was told to play Bad Moon Rising. We all went into a trance that gave us memories of being in the Todash Tavern in the 1990s. It wasn't our first hint that we may have been here before, but it was the largest group to experience it. At the end of that, there was a monster that came out of the red door when Alexis and the others came back.

We discovered a time capsule, but some had to break into the church to get it. Those who broke into the church ended up with some nasty curses for a while.

Those of you who went to the Church found that the stained glass moved and counted several full moons. There was also a little bit of an issue with one of the Mistakes, Eddie Munson, blacking out during the preacher's ceremony.

I can't stop you from going, but I would warn you against it.

The ownership of Time & Again has been transferred to me. As of right now, I have no intention of making any changes, but I am open to suggestions on how to keep everyone safe during the second Tuesday of the month. A woman called me inspirational at the bank today.   She barged into my office, wanting to make a complaint about how a teller had offended her.   I offered to listen to her and asked if she minded if I recorded her instead of making notes, because of my low vision.   She went from loud bitching to quiet praise so fast! I actually thought my eyes were pulling some more shit and there might be a second person with her.

Yeah, this is new for me and it sucks is an adjustment.  But she didn't know that.   All she knew was me sitting at my desk and asking if I could record some shit.  How the fuck could that inspire anyone?  What the fuck?
