This is going to be rambly and incomplete, still having trouble staring at a screen for too long without my head pounding. Here goes...
Look, I get that not Valentine's Day feels like it's the most important thing in the world right now, but really it's a bullshit holiday. It's the most heteronormative holiday that reenforces the 'correct' role of men and women in romantic relationships. Men are supposed to act like the hunter-gatherers and come back with some sort of gift for the women in their lives. And because it's trumped up so highly we have
women people getting depressed
and bitter about not having someone. And where do the homosexual relationships fit into the gender binary, hm?
If you like celebrating it, great, knock yourself out. But if you're feeling anxious to adhere to social pressure and stigma associated remember that it's all superficial and arbitrary.
