I can't help but wonder how appropriate it would be to have an informal wake at Pub Night. We spent a lot of time together at those things, made a lot of memories together. Standing around, telling stories over drinks. I think it'd be nice.

The End of the World is coming early this cycle. This Saturday, after the talent show, go to Pub Night, pre-game and then meet us by the lake to see the End with your best friends.

Brought to you by MMJ Productions, this End of the World party is open to everyone of all ages. Make sure to come dressed for it in any way you see appropriate but you're not getting in without a costume.

Even though we're stuck in the middle of the hot ass desert, I think I'm starting to feel the Christmas Spirit. Enjoy.

I can now officially say that I have kissed all final hopes I had of going home for the Holidays goodbye.

Quick announcement, since a few people asked. OUTback is still going to be meeting tonight at 5 P.M. in the same classroom that History's usually held in. Any questions or concerns you have before the meeting can be left here or texted to me. Hope to see you guys there tonight.

This was so much better than going to the beach.

The election went rather well I think. Obama's still in office (and he mentioned us Vols!). The Dems picked up a bunch of key seats in the Senate (20% female!). Marriage was legalized in a bunch of states (yay gays!). It's a great start, and I hope we can do better next time. It's all we can hope for.

I know I mentioned this a while ago, but between my massive course-load and extra curriculars, I've let it fall by the wayside. Next Wednesday we will have the first meeting of OUTback (working title) in a classroom TBD. It is the only LGBTQ+ safe space on campus where we can be honest and open with each other. The first meeting will be a meet and greet, where we'll all get to know each other better. I also want to discuss the U.S. election in depth and how important it really was for us. And please, any non-Americans that want to talk about their countries should feel free to do so. It's important to share.

Unrelated stuff:

+ The Giants are going to another World Series! I can't believe that comeback. I'm sure the Bay's going crazy right now. It's going to be fun trying to watch these games around my class schedule. (It's baseball this time, not football)

+ Stanford won the Big Game against Cal this weekend. They're our biggest rival in the division and those things are always fun to watch. It was the first time I'd missed one of those games since I'd been in college, score another point for the schoolprison. (College Football this one)

+ Considering going Green Party because of Vol issues. I've already voted, but it's something to look into for the future. Jack, try not to faint.

+ RuPaul's Drag Race is back with a new ~All-Star~ season with a bunch of cast-members that didn't win the previous seasons. There are a lot of old faces that I thought should have won the previous competitions so I'm sure it'll be a good show. I'm going to be watching it in the 3rd Floor tonight at about 9:00 PM if anyone's interested.

After a rough weekend of Bay Area sports, the SF Giants looked very pretty against the Cardinals. I have a good feeling that they'll make the World Series this year.

One good thing to come out of Sunday... the Niners totally destroyed the Bills 45-3 and Alex Smith is now the highest rated Quarterback in the NFL. Watch your back, Giants, we're coming for some payback.

Hello, my name is Mason Laughlin and I'm a candidate for Student Council President.

I thought back to what a Student Council President does for the student body from the perspective of someone that's actually been involved in Student Government in the past. From planning and putting on events to helping with school rallies to fundraising to actually get the money to do these things. That's what a Student Council does.

But this isn't even close to normal. We're living in a compound in the middle of the Outback. So I say fuck it. Let's build something new out here, all of us. Let's make IVI a place that better fits the type of people that we are.

A few things I want to do:
- Friday nights are open. Let's do something with it. We could ask for extra night of pub night, but how about something else? They're willing to build a rock wall, how about a bowling alley? We could have a regular glow and bowl thing. Or club sponsored parties. Or video game tournaments with prizes.
- We should be talking with the Dean of Students more regularly about what's going on with IVI student body instead of them just reading angry complaints of ours on the journals.
- Not just an open dialogue with the administration, but with the rest of the students as well. I'm willing to listen to whatever ideas you have.
