When you meet someone randomly, and have a great connection with them, how long should you wait before contacting them without seeming clingy or desperate?

The version of the Professor's school that's here is as different as can be from the one in my world.

I hate sounding so weak, but... having a version of Professor Xavier here that's actually kind is kind of nice. He was the closest thing to a father I ever knew, so to have him actually acting a little like one, and not having me torture people, is a good feeling.

Is this what family feels like? If so, I finally get why people fight so hard to protect theirs.
