Every time we attempted to hang out this week, and have me sleep over this weekend, things kept going...weird. Whenever things stated getting interesting, the lights flickered and then went out, and once a cupboard opened and a bunch of plates started hurtling themselves at me, followed by a little horse statue.

I don't....what is going ON there?

This does put a damper into my plans for tonight after homework.

So. Homecoming.

I'm totally a finalist for King and on the court no matter what the outcome of the final vote. We find out next Friday at a pep rally after the parade. My boyfriend's on the Junior court, my other friend on the Sophomore one, and things are looking...kind of awesome.

I need to pick something to wear. Is a tux-dress more prom than homecoming material? I was thinking like this this but gold and shiny, but that MIGHT be a little much. Maybe some kind of beaded cape or jacket?

Musical stuff is...well. We, the cast, have constructed A Plan. After much deliberation. Only a select few know of it, and it WILL be worth it.

How DOES one balance a product of its time with the fact that aspects of it are disturbing and fucked up?

Do full cast walkout threats change things? Much less one star?

I guess first week of school went ok? I signed up for ROTC again! So I'm not behind when I actually graduate and shit.

At least here I don't have to look over my shoulder to run from the asshole bullies.

So, School is happening again this year. Auditions for the musical are next week, and I'm told she picked it expecting I'd try out which implies SOMETHING good for me in there, I had the best first day in like ever, and I have an amazing boyfriend, even if I'm totally terrified of his foster parent situation. Dude LEGITIMATELY is some 1920's gangleader, it's like he stepped out of some old movie and...we're totally making it work, but Mr. Shelby's VERY scary. Pretty eyes, but scary.

He made me a mix-tape and I made him a stupid bag of back to school stuff labeled with puns, like a pencil with a note about him being sharp, a calculator that said we added up...I'd be embarrassed but I THINK he thought it was funny and where I come from, puns are kinda the height of humor. Different times. Hell, different LANGUAGE but...same idea and all?

And the sophomore new kid I'm keeping an eye out for this semester? She's pretty cool. When I first got here, I stayed at her family's place for like a week before she got here and we worked out she's in the same room, which is kind of neat for reminiscing if I was going to.

My supposed best friend is having some weird identity crisis, and speaks IRISH-GAELIC of all things now, but working on bringing me into a different club of sorts and I might actually go for it. I'm not old enough until March and I'll probably graduate first, but...it's nice to know there's other stuff to do in the world, stuff that'll matter, you know?

It's at least worth looking over. I got invited to one of their parties toward the end of the year...

We opened tonight.

The rented ravens escaped into the auditorium and around the stage, settling on various beams and places on the walls. They proceeded to flap around for the entirety of the play, shitting on castmates and audience alike.


Ms. M looked like she was about to burst into either tears or laughter. Maybe both.

It was chaos. It was definitely atmospheric. It was AWESOME.

I nailed my last soliloquy. And I'm WAY too wired to sleep tonight.

We've got one tomorrow night, and one Sunday afternoon, then a Thursday condensed version at school that a lot of the English classes are coming to, and then the same schedule next weekend, so if you're wanting to see my knees or skill....

We were running tech for the final battle and somehow, don't ask me, there was a bunch of wool plaid pooled all around my feet, my careful pleats undone and all.

Apparently there's something strange about the fact I kept on going with the scene, because my castmates gaped the whole way through, all of us being professional and holding back with our hysteria, until I'd actually died.

Then there was something about the fact that I was dead onstage, in just a set of shorts that made the whole thing funnier. I may have started laughing silently, and that was...
