Courfeyrac's Macbeth performance is putting him into a kilt of a different style than the one he's worn before in plays, and Aedan'd offered to show him how to put one on and they were going to spend an afternoon Aed didn't have work or practice, and Courfeyrac had no rehearsal, doing that and making food, so we dug out several yards of both the Vael and Starkhaven tartan, left out after last Saturday's Burns Night, to work with, and to show him styles, both the Scots version he's going for, and some of our own regional variances at home, and so he can practice walking about in the thing without unknotting it and showing the audience his almost altogether.

We ARE assured he's going to wear shorts under his, since it's a rental and because "Lady Macbeth's grandparents are coming to see this performance. They don't need to see too much of me all at once. I LIKE Nadya and her family, we've been friends for years at this point", but, regardless.

Putting on a great kilt, properly involves forming the pleats, then lying down and wrapping it around yourself, as if you were on a blanket, to form it around you. The entire process got a bit ridiculous, and soon enough, we had a few volunteers around. After demonstrations, he had the vague idea, and since several of us were dressed already, it seemed only reasonable to let the Thane of Cawdor have a go at helping others get this right. We had Courfeyrac, Noah, Aedan and Iomhar involved in the whole process, and we were about to draft in Hans when Sebastian walked in on his way from work downtown and...

MY afternoon was harder than I'd thought and FAR bloody harder than it had any right to be. Somewhere along the way, I forgot the lassies are SAE much harder than the lads to deal with, but our Meghan saw no problem with disabusing me of THAT ill conceived notion, trust me.


My family's always said that I'm the patient one, and once I set myself a task, I quietly push through until it's done, but getting through to her, today, took more strength and (can I say this about myself?) more courage than I'd thought I had, and enough of her reserves that she's been lying down since one thirty or so and doesn't seem likely to get up again today or want food, though we ought to try with some tea in a while, I think.

Pretty damned amazing when those walls crashed down around her, all the same.

I’m now hosting the biggest event of the year, Hogmanay, New Year’s Eve. And need a venue for well over the city, and some tourists to the area. It’s wrong to play on paranoia but...I may have just agreed to increase the extra funding Hari just solicited from Bas, and to get more electronic equipment in the castle if the council sign off on it.

It's hard to deal with.

Whatever's gotten into our Aedan since he got his talking to from his new boss is not quite clear, annoying though it is. I understand being upset about losing out on horse camp, the last year he could slip in under age requirements, particularly when he's traded it in for two more weeks of lessons in protocol and social etiquette, but his behavior since this started and the camp announcement, particularly, has been reprehensible.

Had I said or done half as many things to MY tutor as the lad's been pulling, I can't say things round here would still be going so easily for me as they are for him. We've had to stop more than one lesson, or skip them in the altogether due to his stubborn refusals to cooperate or knock things off, and the fact he's more than once run off though lucky he's smart enough to stay on the grounds so far.

I am near the end of my rope with him, as the most of us here are. Anyone want to take him for a day, or so, or come round to distract the lad a little before he gets strangled, or worse, I'm forced to tell my brother I can't cope with him, and then lose all I'm building up? I'll pay for a theme park or something if you'll do it. Any other solutions for a bit of petulant brat taming you would suggest?

So, music lessons were quite the mistake.

It's hardly the time for impulsive purchases from the internet, but then again, when is EVER the right time for impulsive purchases from the internet? I can't help Tony. I wish I could. Let's just say it. He's my son. I'm marrying Steve, who's like his father. Let's face it. He may be a middle aged man, but Steve and I are like his dads. This being said, I have no idea how to help him feel better. I wish that I did.

It's hard to see him like this, see him so upset about breaking up with Aedan, and I don't know how he's even managing. He tells me it hurts so much it can't breathe. So all I'm asking for is some advice. What the hell do I do?
