A difficult one. Neith has been asking about her birth parents and if I was somehow her birthfather the entire time, and had to prove it to the government because we were in different places when she was born, or was separated from her before then. She understands now that I became her father later on, but still wondered a few things:

1. What happened to her birth parents before I met her?

2. Why she doesn’t have a mother or an extra father now?

3. Can we make her Auntie Cassie her mother?

…So many questions! She reminds me very much of Khemu, who would have loved a sister, and I like to think that Ay… That AMUNET would be laughing if she were here. And to wonder for myself if there would ever be a way for us to find our way again, or barring that, for me to love another someday.

This is an…interesting age.

To those who have noticed my absence, or that of my apprentice, we have been in my homeland, but we ought to be returning to our normal lives and schedule soon.

Before we do, there IS a question I'd not realized I'd need answered before. I keep my own hair shaved, for avoiding the heat, and before I settled on that, I used the sort of style I did not have to do much with, and my wife did not have the same sort of hair most African women do, but now, I find myself needing to learn more techniques.

Would any of the darker ladies here, with the sorts of hair that are not always catered to in modern shops or by stylists, be willing to teach me a few styles, appropriate for a child whose hair will only be straightened if she desires that when she is old enough? In the meantime, there is a LOT I have no idea how to do. I'd thought those tiny knots to start.

This is my roundabout way of welcoming my daughter home and announcing that the final legal arrangements are now made and we're only waiting for her passport to be changed now, as I show Cassia some of my land, and let Neith get to know a little before we travel home, yes. And announcing that my girl is perfect. Naturally.

It seems the pain of the past, while never leaving me, has become something I can manage as I look toward another future I would once have not thought possible. Things obviously are not perfect and I'm not idealist enough to think this will be easy, but, it WILL be good, I do know that.

This is one of those ideas that I am going to think is terrible while it is actually happening, but what is life without SOME sense of risk and adventure, eh?

Would anyone be interested in a hiking and camping trip before the fall creeps in here? I don't know when the best times for it will BE, I was stolen from the museum, unwrapped, and brought to life in the LATE fall when it was already a bit rainy and cold, but I suspect that SOON is a good time frame to aim for.

No denominations, no creeds or organizations or cults, but a group, in the wilderness, learning to survive and enjoy it.

...And watching the current assassin mentor suffer through the indignity of being forced to sleep outside, but none of you heard that from me.

Would anyone be possibly interested?

Can my housemate please stop bringing weird men things home, thanks

It's strange. I'm undead and I'm probably the most normal person in this house.

I'm kind of glad I don't sleep often.

My housemate's threatened to smite me about three times. Think it's getting to her.

You must understand, first, that this world is rather strange at its core in order to accept the things that are happening to me. Oddly enough, it is not the first time a priest has intervened to test or show me things I haven’t noticed. If in fact, it was a priest at all, and not...

There are some things best kept to those who have seen them I suppose. But through some god’s intervention, I am here, drawing breath, and home is vastly far behind me, along with Alexandria’s library, my fledgelings, and the Ptolemy line. Not all of those are bad, and I suppose much of my life I’ve traveled through Egypt, so why should a new challenge come to haunt me? I have young brothers and sisters in my creed here too, so perhaps... if nothing else, there is a new beginning to embrace, as when I renounced my medjay’s badge for something greater.

Only, I must ask one thing. Was there perhaps a woman found amongst the tomb that I was taken from, or mention of one? Or a hawk preserved as well? I’d much like to know where the centuries have taken those I once held dear who must now walk in the duat.

And may I speak with you, who brought me back here? I have...questions, let’s say.
