My first day of Scottish Parliament felt remarkably alike to my first day as a chantry initiate, truth be told. The same awkward moments when you catch the eye of a stranger, the same lunchtime weirdness as you try to determine what to do and where you are going to sit and whether you are going to be welcome there, the wondering if you look appropriate enough and if you are sticking out like a sore thumb, or ought to be doing anything else than what you are...

It's quite the exercise in awkwardness for anyone, but particularly poignant for an adult, allow me to say.
There IS an irony in being chosen, and then feeling all alone in performing the duties of the task.

However, not all is lost! Many of us overwhelmed new boys and girls are having tea tomorrow and I'd like to do a cocktail party soon, or...something.

How DO adults make work friends, again, exactly?

The woman that cut my hair told me a haircut might make me feel better. It did not, fun fact. But it definitely took a few years off of my appearance.

Now I'm going to work early because...I have nothing better to do and I might as well go check out the poetry section.

I'm BORED.

It's hard to believe that it has been a year, but...Happy Birthday, Morrigan! It's been QUITE the year with you and Charlie in it. Surely it gets easier from now on, yes?
