Huh. I just realised I've been here over a year now. Time certainly does fly, doesn't it?

Perhaps a family dinner soon? I remember deciding to do a Thanksgiving dinner last year and I certainly wouldn't mind that again, though it's not until later.

How's everyone's Spooktober going? I have had a wonderful Spook Season so far as Lamb has come out (haven't had the chance to see it yet, but soon! All reviews have come back saying 'what the fuck' and that is exactly what I hoped it would be), but the new Candyman reboot/relaunch/continuation has also come out, plus I've just read Mike Flanegan is doing Fall of The House of Usher.

Which means as Poe is in the public domain, he's stated that he can cherry-pick from the stories. Which means that I'm going to spend a lot of time looking for those little nods, and like my ghost watch for his other shows will get a spreadsheet going.

Apparently it's going to be vastly different from his usual, and I am here for this.

On other matters; as it's Spooktober all What The Ghost merchandise is half off, and proceeds still go towards the local animal shelter.

As a reminder for this Halloween Show we're talking about Poe ourselves, in honor of the writer and the upcoming show, so be sure to tune in for me and Jon discussing our favorite stories, and the ones that aren't too wildly known. Also, for those of us who don't know what Halloween is, we've discussed a bit about its history and traditions, so I am happy to provide the links to those shows if you'd like them.

So, with Juno gone, I'm looking for a new job. Any leads around town? My experience is mostly in research, but I'm quick to learn and willing to do just about anything so I don't go absolutely batshit mental.

I saw some pumpkins for sale, so this obviously means Spooky Season is officially begun. (No judgement, Christmas keeps creeping up closer and closer.) Which means that not only do I start my annual watch list (including the new movies coming out), I've also begun decorating.

But in other news, my new merch finally came in. We have; stickers, patches, shirts and sweaters (all in small, medium, large, and extra large), and the very much important little ghost plush. And because I don't really need the extra money, proceeds will go to both the SPCA (as someone claimed by a cat when I went to look in my local one, it's only fair) and other various charitable organizations. If you have something and would like donations, let me know.

This is a warning to anyone and everyone that is going to have to deal with me the next few months. The second that the temperature dips below 72, Basic White Girl Season is a-go. This means that I will be stealing one of Martin's giant fluffy sweaters, making a lot of overly spiced seasonal teas, and spending my long nights at home reading in front of a lovely crackling fire. Anyone that wishes to join me in this endeavor is more than welcome, but if you're looking to yuck my yum, please to be seeing yourself out posthaste.

I am more than happy to see summer go.

As ever, the A24 studio delivers a resounding sense of what the fuck. If only in trailer form. If you too like wondering, do watch the trailer for Lamb. Supposedly, it's based on an Icelandic Folk Tale (which would make me question things, but really England has its fair share of weird tales, so you do you Iceland).

Which does mean I've blocked off the days of its release. I'll invite anyone who likes to come with me, but I know myself and I'd suggest for only the first sitting as I'll more than likely see it again, but will take notes. I'm told it can get annoying if I keep scribbling.

On that note, even though I have my degree and the thought of going back to uni makes me make faces, I'm still going to. I don't actually have any real knowledge of filmography, or camera work, and if I plan to go on about it, I should know what I'm talking about.

Why do I feel like everyone in my life is avoiding me?

I have an opening at the Paradox if anyone is looking for a job. One of my workers is gone and we're doing more business and I worry about everyone else getting burned out. They're good employees. They don't deserve that.

I've also been working on some new recipes for pastries so I could use some taste testers.

Hello, fellow Night Vale citizens. I don't do it as well as Cecil does, but anyway. What The Ghost is changing formats. Rather than focusing on what spooky thing is real (turns out; lots), we're going to focus on what makes horror, well, horror. Why do some horror films just get to us, and what makes us so fascinated with them?

We'll also go into themes, tropes, common lore and the myths backing them up. Everything has a story attached to it, so we'll go into those.

We'll start with the Mother of Science Fiction, the great Mary Shelley herself, who honestly no one can compare to. Her life reads like a really odd piece of fiction itself, so we'll go into her epic tale, it's structure and why so much of horror has been built on its bones.

Pun intended.

Exciting news, residents of Night Vale, and displaced individuals who are - for unknown purposes - also residents of Night Vale. The fair has come to our little desert town. Why has it come? Where has it come from? These and many other questions remain a mystery, but the fact remains that the fair is here and it is not going anywhere. The fair cannot be stopped. Cannot be reasoned with. It is here and there is nothing we can do about it.

Which is pretty great actually, since the fair seems super fun. With the rides and the games and the carnival foods. I know I'm looking forward to a funnel cake and some lemonade. It feels like an eternity since the last time there was a fair in Night Vale. Perhaps it was an eternity. Time is a funny thing.

In any case, I hope everyone enjoys this exciting summer fun. I know I will.

Where’s the best place to go for birthday drinks? This is a milestone for me and should be celebrated.
