Welcome to Night Vale

I'm very curious about Holiday traditions. Last year, I didn't get to think about it much. All the arrivals were new and we were trying to figure out what to do next.

So, let me ask, what are some of the things you and your family do for the holidays? Are there any events you'd like to see happen here in Night Vale?

I think I'm going to have to repurpose one of the buildings for storage. With the unfortunate disappearance of Doctor Foster, I'm going to have to find a place to store her research. I'd like to be able to keep it safe in case she returns and wishes to return to it.

I think there is an empty building in the back of the facility. I'll just have to clear it out.

Is there anyone willing to help do a little manual labor for some extra money?

Some days I'm left to wonder if someone can actually read so much that it all gets jumbled together and become somewhat useless when you're trying to actually recall it.

In other, only slightly related news, I've also been wondering if I've been spending way too much time trying to catch up from where my studies last left off and should actually take a break.

You know, most places, you'd think it would wait until October to scare the shit out of you and make you think a little too hard on your past failures and mistakes and the worst parts of your history. August seems like the least rational time to pile trauma onto people.

I've been here - what - a year at this point? I can't believe it took me this long. But I think I've [...] I think I've figured out a way to predict when a portal is going to spit someone out.

There are a few practical applications for this - it might help us find new people when they show up and help them get situated. With a few more calculations, I might be able to identify when someone is taken back as well.

It might even be possible to use this software to identify potential threats from the portals? But that might take a little more time, especially considering how erratic this place could be.

But - at the very least, we might be a little closer to actually properly monitoring and analysing this phenomenon, not just observing it.

I think I have managed to catch a cold. I shouldn't be surprised. I always manage to catch one this time of year. This is all to say that I won't be in the labs tomorrow. I'm taking a husband enforced day off

Before I'm banished away from the computer, I do need to post a job opening. I need an assistant at the Labs. It's mostly for doing clerical work and helping making sure everyone gets what they require. My former one was wonderful but she has disappeared. I'm assuming that she's returned home.

You guys definitely know how to keep things lively. I step away from the lab for family stuff and plants invade.

If you have clippings or anything like that, please either dispose of them or I will come and take them to do that.

The plants were fascinating, to be sure. Frustrating and deadly yes, but also fascinating.

I would have liked to have been able to study them. It's a bit of a shame they vanished they way they did.

So you're doing the fight club tournament?

After a lot of negotiating, I think I've finally had some success. If anyone needs a place to put their egg or whatever hatched from it, we've made room for them at the Night Vale Zoo.

This includes the ones that smell like rotten egg.

Is there anything I can do for any of you? We've still got plenty of space left in the labs if anyone is interested.

Sleepwalking has been a theme before but this is on a whole other level.

How is everyone feeling post these recent events?

I wish that there was a way to at least stop those events but again we are not sure what is causing them. It's very confusing.

Which is absolutely infuriating and fascinating.

Whoever or whatever is bringing everyone here knows that it's going to implode at some point.

Is it too on the nose if I fabricate a cave system?

The longer I live here, the more fascinating this place becomes. Scientifically speaking. Between the snow storm a while back and the snowing inside the apartments, I don't believe there has ever been this much snow in Nightvale.

Before anyone asks, We aren't sure what is causing it. I would appreciate volunteers to bring me some samples of the snow in different areas so I can test them.

Does anyone who is currently getting snowed on need some help?

I am happy to announce that our open laboratories are now officially finished with all remodels and upgrades.

If you have not gotten a chance to acquire a space of your own, this is the time. We don't have many rules. Other than limited testing on humans and human like lifeforms and nothing that will cause the destruction of our town.

Also, I could use some office help. Just some people to help fill out paperwork and acquire things for people.

I've seen plenty of posts about llamas and seen them running around but can someone explain to me why or is that yet another thing we do not know?

Also, who do I speak to about the science lab?

Well, we're having an eventful week here in Night Vale. It would seem, and we don't want to jump to conclusions here, that many of our residents have turned into llamas. No one is quite sure the cause of this incident, but this reporter would like to announce that this is possibly the most adorable problem Night Vale has had since that time a beagle puppy that was also the lord of hell nearly enslaved the entire town with its army of Strangers.

No word yet on how to solve this problem, or if there even is a solution.

In other news, City Council is disappointed to announce that this month was a failure of the "None of the New Residents Went Home So You Get a Pizza Party" contests they never told anyone about. The following new seem to have gone back through the portals and - presumably - to their home worlds this week:

So, that's a bust. It's a real shame. A pizza party could have been really nice. But maybe the City Council will institute more secret contests in the future.

I just want to pet all the llamas. They're so fluffy.

But also this is probably a somewhat serious problem.

Ok. I guess this place isn't to bad. I'm thinking that since most of us have been here awhile could it be helpful to have a catalog or something of what worlds people come from? It would be helpful for new arrivals to find people who come from their world even if they do not know that person?

This is scientifically fascinating. Everything about this place defies logical explanation and the implications of spontaneous interdimensional travel certainly merit study. Not to mention a stable gateway to some sort of contained subdimension.

And whatever the beings claiming to be angels are. They're interesting, to say the least. Not angels, obviously, but interesting.

But also I really do need to get back, so thank you for the hospitality, but I should go.
