DEAN'S BOWLING PARTY

As much as he hated to admit it, Dean put a lot of work into getting ready for the party. Several different types of portable foods are out. Some provided by the arcade and some made by Dean himself. Multiple coolers are filled with different non alcoholic drinks with alcoholic drinks being provided by the bar.

The lanes are set up for friendly casual games, except for the last two. The last two are set up in case anyone wants to play for money. The arcade games are all running and loud music, mostly rock music fills the air.

I went out to the ship. The one in the desert. ~~I can't~~ I thought there might be some ~~gold~~ interesting things that that I could ~~steal~~ salvage, and that I might actually find some bits that I could take for the Pour Judgement. You know, kitsch. But I can't... I literally can't put into words what I saw.

It was beautiful. Massive. And it definitely shouldn't have been there. A giant white whale, just swimming in the sand like it was meant to be there. It jumped out of it and just... hovered in the air for awhile before diving back down and disappearing. It's got to still be out there. ~~I tried to~~ There was just too much sand for me to see where it vanished to into it. The hole filled up immediately. But It's got to still be out there.

We need to go back out there. Look for it! It could mean something.

Honestly, I wouldn't really be surprised by that last one considering this place.

FEBRUARY FIGHT CLUB

February Fight Club went a bit differently than usual.

Instead of individual fighters, the bracket was made up of pairs of two fighting in doubles matches. In the end, after a few back and forth fights, Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes came out victorious, with Natasha Romanoff and Yelena Belova in second place. Full results are here. Afterwards, there was an opportunity for fighters to socialize with each other and anyone watching the match.

THE HELLFIRE CLUB

The Hellfire Club doesn't have to do much to decorate for the time of year. Red is the color after all. It's accentuated by neon lighting and gauzy fabrics. This isn't a hearts and flowers Valentine's party. This is a singles night, so there's a carefully cultivated atmosphere meant to invoke a more short-term sense of romance. Passion more than love.

The music is heavy on the bass, the kind you can feel deep down. It's not overwhelming but it's ever present. And, as always, there are very pretty people dancing for entertainment.

Kate Pryde is holding court and keeping everything in order, ready to step in if there are any problems, and Steve Rogers will be behind the bar, mixing drinks and adding to the atmosphere.

There are plenty of couches for conversations, and quiet corners. There are also booths for groups to talk, and private rooms upstairs. Those do need permission, but are great if you really hit it off and want to be alone.

This is an 18 and over event due to the nature of the Hellfire Club.

PICK YOUR POISON

The bar of the club is fully stocked, and there are a few themed cocktails put together for the occasion. Expect a lot of pretty - and strong - red cocktails. Of course, you're welcome to get a martini or an old fashioned. Nobody's going to judge.

There is an expectation that nobody will get sloppy, and while people are encouraged to enjoy themselves they won't be overserved. Consent is important, after all, and impaired consent is not consent.

Nobody under the age of 21 will be served. We don't care if there's no drinking age in your fairytale kingdom, there is one in the Hellfire Club. Mocktails will be served for those who can't drink.

LONELY HEARTS SINGLES MIXER

Mix and a-mingle in the jinglin'...

But seriously. Mix. Mingle. Getting to know people is the order of the hour. This is a mixer for people to make connections - whether those be romantic or platonic. Sure you might not meet the love of your life, but you'll meet someone. Everyone who comes is encouraged to socialize with people. This isn't speed dating - it's certainly not organized that way - but it is a place for multiple social interactions.

Have conversations. Dance. Drink and be merry. Have a good time and don't dwell on the fact that you're single. Who knows? Soon you might not be.

AUGUST MOVIE NIGHT Since the June movie was such a success, I'll be hosting an LGBT movie night bi-monthly! This Wednesday (the 11th), we'll be watching 'Pariah' (2011).

I've rented out one of the screening rooms at the Night Vale movie theatre. Tickets are free, but donations are appreciated. Popcorn and other snacks will be available at the concession stand.

Writer/director Dee Rees’ film opens at a Brooklyn nightclub where A.G.s (“Aggressive Lesbians”), “soft studs,” and queer black women of all shapes and sizes are having a good time. Immediately, we are given intimate access to a subculture marginalized within the black community — but rather than make the audience feel like interlopers, we’re invited into the raucous, sex-positive celebration, and that makes all the difference. And we have the privilege of being introduced to 17-year-old Alike (Adepero Oduye), who’s in the process of coming out of the closet and dealing with a religious, intolerant mother, Audrey (Kim Wayans). Although there are no shortage of coming-of-age stories, rarely have we witnessed a tough-love mother-daughter dynamic as distinctive as this, not to mention a perspective that’s too rarely seen onscreen. Here I am, all by my lonesome and without the hint of a patron in the Keystone Hall. May I interest one of you fine people in a drink? It'll cost you a quarter, but I promise the price is worth my alcohol. And maybe some of you can play some cards while you're at it? I do worry about my safety with those rumors of an outlaw in town. That Sheriff had better do us a favor and take care of the riff raff. I don't like to see the likes of bandits in my town.
