So it appears that the blue lights on the lake aren't just lights but diminutive little beings who are very angry about their working conditions. And honestly, I can't fault them. They demand better rights and fair compensation and I'm inclined to help them. Anyone with me?
UPDATE: It's transpired that they've been mining the volcano and don't feel fairly compensated, and they're threatening to go eat all our food. So I guess this is an "us" problem now.

THE HELLFIRE CLUB
The Hellfire Club doesn't have to do much to decorate for the time of year. Red is the color after all. It's accentuated by neon lighting and gauzy fabrics. This isn't a hearts and flowers Valentine's party. This is a singles night, so there's a carefully cultivated atmosphere meant to invoke a more short-term sense of romance. Passion more than love.The music is heavy on the bass, the kind you can feel deep down. It's not overwhelming but it's ever present. And, as always, there are very pretty people dancing for entertainment.
Kate Pryde is holding court and keeping everything in order, ready to step in if there are any problems, and Steve Rogers will be behind the bar, mixing drinks and adding to the atmosphere.
There are plenty of couches for conversations, and quiet corners. There are also booths for groups to talk, and private rooms upstairs. Those do need permission, but are great if you really hit it off and want to be alone.
This is an 18 and over event due to the nature of the Hellfire Club.
PICK YOUR POISON
The bar of the club is fully stocked, and there are a few themed cocktails put together for the occasion. Expect a lot of pretty - and strong - red cocktails. Of course, you're welcome to get a martini or an old fashioned. Nobody's going to judge.There is an expectation that nobody will get sloppy, and while people are encouraged to enjoy themselves they won't be overserved. Consent is important, after all, and impaired consent is not consent.
Nobody under the age of 21 will be served. We don't care if there's no drinking age in your fairytale kingdom, there is one in the Hellfire Club. Mocktails will be served for those who can't drink.
LONELY HEARTS SINGLES MIXER
Mix and a-mingle in the jinglin'...Wrong holiday.
But seriously. Mix. Mingle. Getting to know people is the order of the hour. This is a mixer for people to make connections - whether those be romantic or platonic. Sure you might not meet the love of your life, but you'll meet someone. Everyone who comes is encouraged to socialize with people. This isn't speed dating - it's certainly not organized that way - but it is a place for multiple social interactions.
Have conversations. Dance. Drink and be merry. Have a good time and don't dwell on the fact that you're single. Who knows? Soon you might not be.

I might have thought this was a trick from the Overlook, but walking into a space I know all too well in the Mountains and out next to a place in the desert called the Dog Park is not something the hotel would have thought up. If it wasn't for someone helping me I might not have made it very far with the extreme change.

Mia's first Hanukkah is going much better than I was expecting it to be. I was so sure it would just be her and I in the cabin alone. Maybe John and Lyla would come, maybe Nyssa but I was betting it would just be me. Here she's got her father and other family.
I do wish my mom was here though. It's been a long time since I've celebrated the holiday without her. I wouldn't even mind seeing Noah.

Time really flies here. I was reminded I've been here almost a year which is just...wild.
I've been thinking of putting together some kind of educational program for people who want it. Some combination of core educational requirements, power training for those who need it, and magic for those that applies to. Not that there's anything wrong with the school system in Night Valeexcept all the things that are very wrong with it, but it might be nice to have something more suited to people who've been brought here.

This is a warning to anyone and everyone that is going to have to deal with me the next few months. The second that the temperature dips below 72, Basic White Girl Season is a-go. This means that I will be stealing one of Martin's giant fluffy sweaters, making a lot of overly spiced seasonal teas, and spending my long nights at home reading in front of a lovely crackling fire. Anyone that wishes to join me in this endeavor is more than welcome, but if you're looking to yuck my yum, please to be seeing yourself out posthaste.

The Ferris Wheel uh.. looks... functional
