AUGUST MOVIE NIGHT Since the June movie was such a success, I'll be hosting an LGBT movie night bi-monthly! This Wednesday (the 11th), we'll be watching 'Pariah' (2011).

I've rented out one of the screening rooms at the Night Vale movie theatre. Tickets are free, but donations are appreciated. Popcorn and other snacks will be available at the concession stand.
Writer/director Dee Rees’ film opens at a Brooklyn nightclub where A.G.s (“Aggressive Lesbians”), “soft studs,” and queer black women of all shapes and sizes are having a good time. Immediately, we are given intimate access to a subculture marginalized within the black community — but rather than make the audience feel like interlopers, we’re invited into the raucous, sex-positive celebration, and that makes all the difference. And we have the privilege of being introduced to 17-year-old Alike (Adepero Oduye), who’s in the process of coming out of the closet and dealing with a religious, intolerant mother, Audrey (Kim Wayans). Although there are no shortage of coming-of-age stories, rarely have we witnessed a tough-love mother-daughter dynamic as distinctive as this, not to mention a perspective that’s too rarely seen onscreen. (Pariah Trailer)
**OOC NOTE REGARDING ACTORS: For the purposes of this film and all movie nights. Actors who are PBs in Night Vale who also happen to appear in any of the films should just be considered different/unknown actors who might have a slight passing resemblance to the PB'ed character. No face-twins.

**OOC NOTE REGARDING PLOT: Feel free to use this post to reply to Christian, plan or invite people to go with you to movie night (Under: Tuesday) & write little scenes about going or participating (under: Wednesday). So there won't be double posts.

The plants I've been cultivating have done well, all things considered. And it's fascinating to learn about the plants from other worlds and their various uses. I've been working on adapting some recipes and creating others to incorporate plants that aren't native to my own world.

Aneth ara, Lethallan. I made some tea if you'd like to come by. I had some ideas I wanted to discuss.

draco.
I've been thinking of setting up a group to discuss herbalism and potioncraft. There is so much beneficial knowledge that could be shared between people.

The community garden seems to be thriving. I'm thinking of using a section to dedicate to herbalism supplies if that would be amenable to you.

wynonna.
How are you holding up?

I can watch Alice this weekend if you need a break.

keyleth - added later.
I spoke with Corazón.

He's cleaning out a section to expand the community garden and give us space for growing herbs and other plants for tinctures and salves.

I've been here - what - a year at this point? I can't believe it took me this long. But I think I've [...] I think I've figured out a way to predict when a portal is going to spit someone out.

There are a few practical applications for this - it might help us find new people when they show up and help them get situated. With a few more calculations, I might be able to identify when someone is taken back as well.

It might even be possible to use this software to identify potential threats from the portals? But that might take a little more time, especially considering how erratic this place could be.

But - at the very least, we might be a little closer to actually properly monitoring and analysing this phenomenon, not just observing it.
