Log: Garden Party

[info]zesmith
[info]thelaststation
Who: Open to everyone
What: Garden Party
When: Friday evening
Where: Zizzy's backyard
Rating: Low
Status: Ongoing

The garden party was put together at the last minute, it seemed, but Zacharias and Izzy pulled through with mini sandwiches, grilled vegetables, mashed potatoes, a big bowl of salad, and of course, Izzy's cupcakes. The sun was still bright and warm on their backyard, where they'd arranged seats and had music playing softly. Little Lyla was in an outdoor bassinet, Quaffle playing fetch with Zacharias and a worn quaffle, when the first of their guests arrived.

Who: ANYONE! invitation or not -- feel free to crash!
What: Caleb and Ritchie's joint b-day party
When: Saturday, May 31, from 7PM - ?
Where: a secluded Welsh campground
Rating: PG 13 at least, for shenanigans
Status: ongoing

Trellyn Woodland, in Wales, is pretty much your basic campsite -- lots of space, lots of trees, not a lot of people. Of the seven pitches available, Millicent and Tracey booked the most secluded, and carefully set up an anti-muggle barrier before the guests arrived, on the off chance any outsiders should be drawn to investigate their celebrations.

Business had been going well for Rosmerta since the project started, what with the influx of new residents and all of that. Most of them used to go to Hogwarts too, and made Rosmerta smile with the way they'd changed over the years- mostly, she thought, they turned out okay, coming in the pub in groups, always cheerful and rowdy, or flirty, or ready for gossip.

Most of them, anyway.

"Excuse me," she said, turning to one of the patrons who'd taken up a seat by the bar. "Can I get you another drink?"

The owl carries a honey bee cake - a light sweet with a lemon base and an almond-honeycomb drizzle. It is graced with a single fondant wasp for Wimbourne.

Marietta:

I'm terribly sorry about the Easter eggs. I hope you'll forgive me.

The owl brings with it this unsigned note, though Serena made no attempt to disguise her handwriting.

Even though what they said is true I don't know how to speak to you

Marietta,

Despite our difficult history I shouldn't have
I apologise for my behaviour in your journal last night. It was indefensible and completely inappropriate, particularly considering that it was your birthday. I hope my actions didn't ruin

Who: Serena Capper and Marietta Edgecombe
Where: Woodcroft Clinic
When: Monday, noon
What: A run-in that likely won't go well
Rating: SFW
Status: Ongoing

--

Serena wasn't sure how there could possibly be delays at a clinic that served such a small village like Hogsmeade, but there was nothing to be done for it. After speaking to the receptionist and receiving the new estimated time of her appointment, she took a seat in the waiting room and rifled through her bag for some paperwork she was meant to review before she arrived at work.

After a few minutes had elapsed, she realised that the door to the clinic had opened and that she was no longer alone. Somehow, she'd managed to not see Marietta despite the other witch's relocation to Hogsmeade and the run-ins that Cho'd had with her. While this had previously given her some sense of triumph, now all that Serena could think about was the last time they'd seen each other: her trial in the Ministry of Magic.

Panicking slightly, she stood up with the intent to reschedule her appointment for another day so she could leave. The move solely seemed to bring attention to her presence, though, and she sat back down, stunned, as they made eye contact. But instead of saying anything to indicate that she recognised her (but how could she not recognise her?) Serena pulled her paperwork out again and ducked her head, hoping this wouldn't be too excruciating.

Who: Marietta, Isabel, Zacharias, Harry & anyone else who would go?
What: Two Wasps fans taking in a match with two less enthusiastic escorts
When: Friday, 7pm
Where: Cannon's stadium
Rating: low
Status: ongoing

After speaking with Astoria, who in turn had a conversation with Harry, Marietta found herself with permission to attend the Wasps match on Friday. The only downside was that Potter himself had insisted on escorting her. But even he couldn't dampen her enthusiasm about leaving the village, so with him in tow, she made her way to meet Isabel so they could share a Portkey over.

Results: Cannons win 170 to 30, with Harry Potter catching the snitch. Snitch points were not awarded to either team.

The uniforms had indeed come in earlier that day, and Zacharias had dropped by not long after to see them. Satisfied, he'd thanked Roger for the quick work and asked if he would be up for adding numbers on for those who wanted to personalize each jersey with a number of his choosing. It was a simple enough spell, and each uniform's lettering was the same throughout, so Roger agreed.

The uniforms had been separated into four piles, one per team. Zacharias had already picked up his, and if Cormac wanted to personalize his, he could do it himself. Roger sat back, waiting for the first of the pick-up players to drop by.

owl delivered to Eye of Newt

[info]superb
[info]thelaststation
To the owner of the Eye of Newt:

Do you ever brew potions for customers? Due to special circumstances, I am unable to brew myself and was wondering if you take special orders. The potion is simple enough and I can give you the ingredient list and instructions. Please let me know if this is possible. However, if not, do you know of someone else I may contact for such a task?

Sincerely,
Marietta Edgecombe

Who: Marietta and Vicky
What: Girl's night
When: Feb 26 -- Wednesday evening
Where: Marietta's flat
Rating: low
Status: ongoing

Her first few weeks at Hogsmeade had been, as expected, completely terrible. She kept seeing familiar faces everywhere she turned and seeing as she worked at the only place to buy groceries in the village, she couldn't avoid that her customers were also her former classmates. Things had been tense, but she'd been doing her best to just keep her head down and steer clear of any drama. She wouldn't be here forever and if she could make it out unscathed, that would be preferable.

Apparently Marietta had been doing too good a job at disappearing, however, because it wasn't until a few days ago that she realized her neighbor was perhaps the only person in the village that didn't hate her. Fate was terribly funny like that. It was the only bit of good news she'd received since arriving. She and Vicky had gotten to know one another while in Azkaban so to have her near by was quite comforting.

After figuring out a time that worked for them both, Marietta purchased the (cheapest) bottle of wine at work and tidied the few things around her mostly-barren flat, waiting for Vicky to arrive.

Who: Marietta and Cho
What: a chance meeting
When: dated forward to Friday evening
Where: the streets of Hogsmeade

Status: ongoing complete!

Cho hadn't decided, by the end of the work day on Friday, whether she'd go to the Valentine's Day event at Qualitea or not. The week felt longer than usual, and the last thing she really wanted to do was attend a holiday party in celebration of dating and romance. As she bundled up for her walk through the village back to her flat, Cho decided: she'd stay in tonight, get ahead on a memo she needed to send next week, and then curl up with a book and a glass of wine. She still had a few novels left over from Christmas to choose from and, as she considered which to start tonight, she was soon enough treading the pavement along Main Street, distracted.

A particularly hard gust of wind broke her concentration and Cho glanced up, registering someone walking toward her from the opposite direction. Her stomach dropped as her memory, always good with putting names to faces, immediately recognized who it was. Marietta.

There was nothing to do but keep walking. Cho wouldn't have turned back even if she could've done it without drawing attention to herself. She'd told Serena that they'd run into Marietta eventually, but the being confronted by the prospect still left her shaky and panicked, a feeling she wholly hated. Eyes fixed forward, Cho prepared to pass Marietta without slowing or offering any kind of acknowledgment.
