What: A few drinks to celebrate the anniversary of one's birth

Ernie had never been one to make a big deal out of his birthday. To him, it was worth noting that he'd made it through another year, but he was content to keep it to a quiet night. He suspected this was in part due to his upbringing and the way his parents instilled the values of putting others first - he wouldn't necessarily call having a birthday part selfish, but it just never felt right to him. That said, he could handle letting others celebrate with him since he'd also learned that birthday parties (even small, unstructured ones like he preferred for himself) were often just as much about the celebrants as the one being celebrated.
He'd finished planning out his final lessons for the rest of the term - a huge stress off of his mind - and wandered over to The Three Broomsticks. He grabbed a table near the middle of the room. He'd no illusions that there would be lines out the door, but he wanted the flexibility to include whomever might decide to drop by. He ordered himself a drink and settled in, quietly toasting to another year before anyone else showed up.

James hadn't been entirely sure that Cho would accept his business proposition, but he'd been very pleased to see her memo arrive at his desk with a check next to 'Yes.' They hadn't been seeing each other for very long, in the grander scheme of things, but it was the first serious relationship that James had had in quite a while and since it was Cho, he wanted to do everything properly. That meant not pulling the concept of a sleepover as a surprise, being a gentleman, and other such chivalrous things.
"Thank you again for agreeing to this meeting," he joked as he lowered the wards and let them both into his flat. Of course, they were out of the office now, but he liked the entendres too much to let them go quite yet. "And the one earlier tonight as well."

Though they'd come together in the worst of circumstances, over the ten or eleven years (how much time had elapsed?) since Cedric's passing, he, Cho, and Viktor had grown very close. Of course, they didn't get to see Viktor as often as they liked, and James and Cho had gotten closer since the last time they'd all been able to get together, but James was certain that dinner with the three of them would go well.
Once they'd gotten seated, James ordered a bottle of wine for the table and grinned at both of his friends, surreptitiously turning so he was angled to face Cho a bit more. He wasn't sure how to break the news to Viktor that they were sort of seeing each other, but he didn't think Viktor would take it poorly. Given how they'd met, though, James didn't want to come off as disrespectful.
"Would you have believed that one day we'd all be working together, here of all places?" James said cheerfully, reaching for his wine glass and lifting it up into the air towards Viktor and Cho. "Cheers, mates."

With the season resuming next week and players returning from New Zealand, Friday seemed like an endless stream of Owls to answer and paperwork to file in triplicate. Cho, usually so conscientious about keeping her mind on her work no matter what, found her attention wandering more than once. Finally, thankfully, she replied to the last memo sent over from the Ministry-- yes, of course, a standard health screen of the team had been planned, for Merlin's sake-- and locked her desk with a profound sense of relief.
It was later than she'd wanted to leave, but there was just enough time to run home and change before meeting James. With no idea of where they might end up going to eat, or how much walking might be involved, Cho bundled up agains the cold as well as she could, arriving at the Floo just before 6:30PM.
