"Finally," Dan exhaled, dropping his duffel bag on the floor of their hotel room. The sun was bright and the air warm and smelling of the sea, a marked contrast from the dreary spring that Hogsmeade was going through right now. Though Stewart and Dan had talked about going weeks ago, they hadn't actually gotten around to the trip until Dan, plagued with playoff scouting meetings and team planning meetings and agent meetings, had finally said screw it and decided to block off the weekend for him and Stewart.

He turned to him now with a bright smile. They had literally, absolutely nothing on their schedule except the beach or the pool, whichever they preferred at a given time. There might be a few activities they could sign up to do but Dan was more than happy to do just nothing, too. "What do you think?"

"I can't believe you haven't gone here yet," Dan was muttering, shaking his head. "You've been here weeks! What have you been doing in that time?"

His father only looked at him with bemusement, though he let his son drag him into the cafe. "I don't think they've got room for us here, son," he said, causing Dan to frown.

"This is a lot busier than it was last time I came here," he murmured, scanning the cafe for any open seating. The last time he was here was with Stewart, when they were scouting Inverness. The last time he was here, he'd said he would take his father to the cafe, but once his dad moved, they never actually got around to it, and he'd trusted his dad would go on the strength of his recommendation. "We'll probably have to wait."

Tracey had spent a good part of the last few weeks with Gwendolyn and Isabel making sure that the cocktail party officially unveiling the business owners' group. Attendees were invited to Foxglove, whose patio was now open, and in the cool spring air, with sparkling drinks and hors d'oeuvres. Tracey took the floor half an hour after the evening began to explain the details of the chamber, and how it would work: a small annual membership fee that would go towards chamber activities, events that would be balanced across business training, cross-promotion events, and so on. It took less than half an hour, and once it ended, everyone was allowed to mingle.

Over the last few months, James had started to have very fond feelings about his newly-adopted team. Though he was sure no other team could compare to his beloved Catapults, his new rapport with staff and players had convinced him that pushing for a successful Hydras team was something James genuinely wanted.

After making sure that preparations were in place for both the private party and the village celebration, James double-checked his pocket square, making sure it wasn't crooked, and waited for the first guests to arrive at the suite.

Things were still a little busy in the Hydras office, what with the exit interviews and the prospect of looking forward coming up. Dan had strategy meetings scheduled and scouting reports to discuss with the manager, and players that they'd all agreed they wanted to bring back.

But the season was over and nothing had blown up. In Dan's mind that was worth celebrating, so he swung by one of the wine shops he spotted in Inverness and picked a nice vintage, dropped by Fromage to pick up food to go, then headed over to Stewart's.

"Surprise!" he said, grinning. "Only so far as you're actually available to hang out, though. But I did bring you dinner in case you hadn't had any yet."

Once Lisa had put the idea in his head, Dan couldn't get it out. It had been so long since he'd actually spent time tinkering with magic- running the Hydras had consumed his time these days, and he knew part of the restlessness he felt with running the team was based on the fact that he wasn't a manager at heart- that he was eager to get his hands dirty, so to speak.

He'd taken the last few hours of the afternoon off, though Lisa wouldn't be arriving until later, so he could nip over to Inverness and pick up a few texts from the bookshop there. He was surprised to have found a few good resources to use. Finding the projector and a sample film, though, proved trickier, but he managed to scrounge one up in a vintage shop in one of London's side streets.

The beginning of any kind of endeavor such as this, he knew, was the formulation of some kind of theory, but all he had were strands of ideas. He hoped Lisa had something more concrete, or at least, that reading up on how early films were created, and how those movies were shown, would help them come up with something.

He picked up an especially impressive looking tome and started reading.

Any other day, Dan would have been at the concert along with the rest of his friends, and actually, he'd have wanted to see Andrew's gig too. But now and then Dan was also the kind of person who enjoyed some peace and quiet, and he knew that he invited Stewart enough to parties and social events- who indulged him, because he was a saint- that surely some days the two of them could use some time alone. The concert just seemed to be the perfect time to do that, since everyone else in the village was keen on attending it, if not for Wagtail then for Gulliver's Dragons.

But Dan had no idea just how much he'd been waiting for the evening until it finally arrived. Ducking from work a little earlier- the stadium had been humming and buzzing with all kinds of concert preparations all day- he headed out to Inverness to grab a bottle of red and white wine and showed up at Stewart's doorstep when a few early concert-goers were just heading out to the stadium.

"Hi," he said with a smile. "Whatever you made smells really good."

Dan had contemplated inviting the team over to his house instead, but ultimately realized that he probably would need to take all day just to make food, so he did what any sensible person might and made a reservation for one of the private rooms at the Three Broomsticks instead.

When guests arrived the table, large and long and set family-style, was ready, filled with roasts and pies and hearty meals. The wine was self-filling and the conversation, Dan hoped, overflowing.

( Quidditch Buzz: Massive Changes Rock Hogsmeade Hydras )

Who: Roger, Merrill, Dan, and Stewart

Roger had been so surprised when Merrill had asked if he was free for dinner outside- Merrill hadn't had an appetite in a while, and even though they'd spent a few days in the ski resort just last weekend, he felt as though Merrill was still easily exhausted- that he said yes without asking for more details. It wasn't until Merrill mentioned his match-making service skills that he realized what was going on, or who they were going with. He shared a house with Dan and Stewart, and he remembered having shagged Dan at one point- there were few men in the village he hadn't- but beyond that, he couldn't say he was very familiar with either. All he knew was that Merrill had set them both up and they were only too happy to buy Merrill and Roger dinner.

Roger was more than happy to oblige.

"Ready?" he asked Merrill, offering him his arm to Apparate them both to Next, the restaurant Merrill had chosen. With Violet at her grandmother's for the evening, they had all evening to make new friends.
