When the envelope is opened, a burst of magic fireworks and all-too-real glitter explodes from within. The illustrated flames on the invitation itself are charmed to flicker with light, hissing and popping like a real campfire.

Though it wasn't always that Jack and Len had dinner together, and though Len didn't always make food for the two of them, tonight she made a Cornish pasty and roasted vegetables for them both, with enough leftovers they could each take for lunch the next day. There was something on Len's mind that she'd been considering lately, though she'd worried about bringing it up so much that she never got around to doing so.

Tonight, though, would be different. Or at least, that was Len's plan.

The Gladrags' last game had ended in a draw, which-- while not as good as winning-- wasn't an embarrassing outcome, by any means. Angie worked the team a little harder at their weekly practice session, running a few extra drills to make sure everyone ready for next week's match. She still struggled to control her tendency toward perfectionism, reminding herself that the pick-up league was a fun enterprise. So what if their Beaters weren't the most skilled, and their Seeker's performance uneven, and she and Trrry could hardly keep from sniping at each other during practice? It was fine. Everything was fine.

Angelina was hovering low, her attention so focused on the drill some of her teammates were running by the goals, that she had no notion Jack was anywhere nearby until a flicker of motion in her peripheral vision made her turn her head-- just too late to brace herself for impact. Tumbling off her broom, Angelina hit the ground hard, her left elbow and shoulder absorbing most of the impact. Of course I landed on my bad side, she thought. Followed immediately by, Thank Merlin I wasn't flying any higher. And finally, Fuck that hurts.

Sitting up, she tentatively tried to move her arm, wincing as pain shot up from her elbow.

Len had never been the kind of person to just up and move someplace-- it usually took her such a long time to get comfortable with the idea of change that anytime she did, there was a plan in place and that she could be as comfortable about it as possible.

She had been willing to stick it out with St. Mungo's for longer than she did once Healer Pye had left, but she did begin applying to other hospitals. She'd been lucky enough to have been accepted at Woodcroft, as well as at the hospital in Brighton, but Woodcroft felt more familiar, smaller and more personal in a way that St. Mungo's never did, and which Brighton only hinted at being.

Now here she was, the week before she was scheduled to start, spending almost every day in Hogsmeade just to get acclimated. The first few days had been spent looking at apartments, but there were few that looked right and she was holding out hope that she could find something soon, or she'll have to commute by Floo temporarily. There were a few new stores around that got her attention, too, and she hoped she'd be able to drop by and see what they offered.

After her chance meeting with Mandy Brocklehurst at Qualitea, Angelina had been trying to get back into the routine of working out regularly. In a village filled with cupcakes, scones, and fondue, some kind of exercise was nearly required. Fitting in either a fly or a run had gotten easier now that the weather was marginally warmer, and being her own boss meant setting her own hours, affording Angie the opportunity to go out mid-morning and miss most of the other residents who were trying to stay fit, as well as anyone who worked regular hours.

It didn't mean missing everyone, though. On her way out to the running path by the lake, Angelina usually cut through the park. As she drew near, the sound of someone singing reached her ears, and she glanced around for the culprit as she jogged. It wasn't a bad voice, by any means, but the pastime was just unusual enough that she wanted to know who was doing it. Catching sight of a figure on a bench not far from her, Angie turned, heading in that direction.

J,

Would be a great opportunity - but we can't get rid of Nick, even if he is a bit of a prick. How do we convince Wagtail to let us play as we are?

“Do you have any ice cream?” Victoria called from the kitchen, hoping that Jack could hear her out in the living room. She set the dirty dishes in the sink and with a wave of her wand got them washing.

She had been surprised to see Jack not only being part of the Dating Game and being a runner up, but that twinge of disappointment that he hadn’t been the winner. Then again, the evening with James had been fun, even with the initial awkwardness when having to explain Astoria’s presence to him. Having to do that with Jack… well, she’d rather do that in private. The following week, she was beginning to think that she was mastering the art of missing of bad timing, when instead of finding him when she had sought him out, found that he had either just stepped out or wasn’t working that day or something other came up. So when they had gotten to talking at the match today and talk had fallen on having dinner together, she had taken him up on it.

“Or something else dessertish?”

Jack was looking forward to having Orla come by. He didn't know her very well at all, but that was why he'd extended the invitation. Why not take advantage of being neighbours and invite her over? There'd been something charming about the witch he'd met at Dan's party and he was excited to have the opportunity to introduce her to his favourite motorcycle. Sure, she didn't want to go for a ride, but he was sure it'd hold her interest.

After a busy day of working on some of their songs for the next week's gig, getting lunch at the Three Broomsticks, and taking a bath, Jack removed his wards and opened the door He leaned out into the corridor to see if he could spot her.

It wasn't billed as a birthday party because Dan really hated calling attention to the fact, but it was what people knew it to be anyway. He had set up tons of food in a corner (not just finger food either, real food, to help people keep drinking for good times), and drinks in the other. The master bedroom was warded from intruders although the guest bedroom was not- at this point, Dan figured he'd just do his mates a solid- and there was music playing from an unseen source.
