I read a little about "Cinco de Mayo" and found it very interesting. It's a celebration of a battle that took place in another country, but as a holiday it is more popular here than it is there.

It's a little easier to settle in if I work through discrete subjects, rather than looking at the whole. At the moment I'm trying to get an eye for the subtleties of fashion. Luckily there seems to be a rather large number of people specifically writing on the subject, so at the same time I'm learning about magazines and the internet. I suspect being able to instinctively know, when you search for something, which options are the best is an important skill in itself. And all these new words are like learning another language.

Well....this is unexpected. I'd blame the Convergence but I something tells me that it's not the issue.

I know that I kept thinking that I wanted to get away, but this wasn't exactly what I had in mind.

Is there really no way back? And is it true that HYDRA doesn't exist here? Holly wasn't very helpful. I'd love to hack into her system and find out what she really knows.

I found the Quibbler that you left for me. I'm so happy to have it that I spent the whole afternoon reading it, but I only read it five times through. I know, that's not very much for a whole afternoon but it made me cry and that slowed things down. But don't worry, it wasn't the bad kind of crying. It was just the kind where you remember something you don't want to forget but it hits you like a bludger would if there was an unexpected Quidditch game while you were reading a newspaper.

I'll leave the payment laying around and I'm sure it will get to you like the Quibbler got to me.

In light of what happened to one of our fellow refugees of the wormhole-- and every other weird thing that's happened to us since we got here, which neither Holly nor the police can really protect us from-- I've been thinking that it might be worthwhile to start organizing. Have a network, and maybe a patrol team, amongst those of us who are used to protecting others against the strange and frightening.

For any of you I haven't met, my name is Sam Winchester. In my world we call it 'hunting', but what it means is fighting evil. Protecting people. Keeping the world from going off the rails. Anyone who's done the job knows it's not as glamorous as that sounds, but that's still what it boils down to.

I'm pretty certain my team isn't the only one of its type around here, because I've met a few of you already-- and the more we have, the better. So, let's get to know each other and talk about what we might be able to do.

Some of the animals at the zoo are having a wonderful time this week. The polar bear is especially happy, she's been much more energetic than usual. I've stopped by to say hello to her and her family whenever I can because they're so cheerful. Some of the other animals aren't, and I know why: it's hard to be cheerful when you aren't being taken care of properly. They can't take care of themselves because we've put them in a zoo, and I can hardly bear to meet their eyes. But it's only been me and Cindy and John most of the time, and we can't do everything, especially when the power keeps going out, and I have to spend all my time doing warming charms on the tropical monkeys. They're very delicate, you know.

When this is all over, I'm going to sleep for a week, and I'll just have to hope that the snow fleas don't take over my house in the meantime, because I'm going to be too tired to care.

I haven't seen any yetis for a couple of days, and the second one I saw, in the polar bear enclosure, wasn't nearly as big or as angry as the first one. Do you think that means the snow is almost over?

I’d like to thank those that I’ve met here so far for being so welcoming when I arrived last week. Your kindness in reaching out to a stranger was certainly appreciated. For those I haven’t met yet, I’m looking forward to making your acquaintance.

Also, I wanted to let everyone know that there will be a visual arts class, as well as a martial arts class, available at the YMCA beginning next week on April 21st. Visual arts will include drawing and painting using various mediums. Classes for those under eighteen will be on Mondays, classes for those eighteen and over will be on Wednesdays. The martial arts class for those younger than eighteen will be on Tuesdays, those eighteen and over will be on Thursdays. All classes will take place from 7-8 p.m.

I will be the volunteer teacher for these classes, so if you have any interest in taking either or have any questions, just let me know or show up at the time mentioned above. If you have experience in either area, volunteering to help teach a session or two is also a possibility. Just let me know if you’re interested and we can look into setting that up.

I’ve also been looking into other volunteer opportunities throughout the city so if you’d like more information on other ways to get involved outside the YMCA I’d be happy to share what I’ve found.

When I talked to her last month, my mother gave me a list of books that she recommended. Most of them are very good, and I'm so glad she told me about them! For example, I understand muggles much better after reading My Family and Other Animals, and I understand scorpions much better too. And I understand my mother much better as well, so that's three things from just one book.

The twenty books about forty people falling in love while training twenty clever horses to do something called dressage was only one or two things, I think, but then again I may have missed something because I've never trained horses, only owls, and puffskeins, but not very well. Puffskeins are not very trainable. But I might read them all again anyway, because it was a good one or two things.

So you'll understand why I want to read all the books she told me about...and I'm sure she did her best, but she was a little out of touch with my life (I don't blame her at all for that, I truly couldn't) and what's more and I really am very jealous but I think she has access to more books than I do (she said something about paradise being a kind of library, even though I didn't see any books when we were talking).

So I couldn't find some of these, but if they exist I'd really like to read them. Does anyone know where I might find:

I had a dream with my mother last night. It felt real like she was alive. I never got to see her before she died, so I always picture her as she was when I left for college. She was wearing jeans and a Tasmanian Devil t-shirt. She loved Taz. I always see her like that, waving to me. I never know if she's waving hello or goodbye, but she's always waving.

She wasn't waving last night, nor was she wearing her usual clothes. She was just all in black, and it was like she was upset. I woke up freaking out. But I'm okay now.

Maybe knowing that demons can show up here has me a little on edge. And I don't even want to write down what my worst fear is, because the fact of the matter is that if he does show up here, there's no way to stop him. If he couldn't be stopped last time

I've never spoken to anyone who knows anything about magic. But a wand showed up in my house and every time I've tried to get rid of it reappears. Also some really strange things have been happening and they are all things that I can't logically explain. If any of you have any knowledge of what is happening please contact me asap.

Something seriously weird is going on here. I just can't be this lucky!

I've decided to start breeding magical plants, just in case dragons show up here. I used to feed them, the dragons I mean, so I know that they need magic in their diet, which is something that not everyone knows. And I went to the chemist, or druggist, or was it a drug shop? Whatever do you call the apothecary here? But I couldn't find what I was looking for.

I think I ought to start with plants that are so very much so that they're practically magic. Like orchids, and dandelions, and mandrake, though of course mandrake is magical already, but you don't seem to get the really strong sort here.

It'll be useful for potions too, in case the dragons don't show up.

I know that grown individuals come here all of the time, but has anyone ever seen an infant brought here? Is that a thing? Could a baby show up? Would Holly know to contact the baby's mother?
