Cath and I are back, though I suspect that all of New Asgard has noticed already, given the atmosphere at Sally's. What felt like merely a few days through the portal was, instead, over two months gone from here, which is... more than a little disconcerting.

I've been doing a lot of dusting at home, trying to get it looking back into shape again. It was wintertime, when we left, and now spring is all but assured.

Monday is the day! We've got such a short amount of time left. I am very much looking forward to the wedding, to the reception, and to celebrating with all of you. I hope that you will be able to make it!

I can promise that the food at the reception will be exceptional. ;)

Cath and I will be marrying next month. Though we have now been engaged for two months, it still brings me this... wholly unfettered joy to know that date has been secured and indeed even set onto invitations.

I had no wedding or marriage traditions to uphold, from Chess. Those in Hearts were... different, but not entirely ones I wish to keep to. When I search here, there are simply too many to choose from. What is your favorite?

I've stumbled into more luck these last months than any fool could have hoped for, back in Hearts - and I am wholly grateful for it. Yet with so many people speaking of seeing glimpses of their future, in dreams, I am keenly reminded that I have no such future to dream of, in the world I came from. It is humbling, perhaps, if not altogether unsettling to remember.

Pumpkins are everywhere. They're impossible to avoid now.

There will be no pumpkin at Sally's. My apologies if that is your cup of tea.

On the other hand, I have made a series of apple flavored fall beverages and treats which are available in the month of October. Apple flavors blend wonderfully witn cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, caramel, and vanilla.

Please do come and visit to see what we have available in the pastry case. Our pastries change daily.

I had a long, peculiar flash of... memory? This morning as I was pouring a cup of coffee for a customer. I must have gone blank, because the next thing I knew I was burning my hand on the coffee as it spilled over the edge of the cup.

I'm afraid I was not very nice to the girl who came to my kingdom. Seeing Cheshire again was a little awful, after everything. And the King ...I forgot how miserable I was in that world. And how glad I am to be in this one. I must not take it for granted.

For those of you who don't know, Sally's doesn't have much (any) pumpkin on the menu. When it comes to other fall flavors, though, I make sure that we have plenty of them readily available for all of our customers.

Though, this year I'd like to try something new. Please comment below with your vote as to which of the following flavors I should focus on this fall:

apple, cinnamon, salted caramel, maple, chai, sage, pear, brown butter, ginger, bourbon

Or if you have other suggestions of classic fall flavors, please let me know about them, too!

So I get the feeling we all need a distraction. Maybe to stop from worrying about our space cadets, or maybe to hit pause on freaking out about all the inadvertent time escapades. Or just take a break from the lab/computer/bureaucracy we’re entrenched in.

The weather’s decent and the beach is right there at New Asgard. I’m thinking a friendly volleyball tourney. Kenny Loggins soundtrack optional but strongly encouraged.

Hats are not nearly as popular here as they were in Hearts. There, they were necessary fashion - how terrible to be caught without one. (Though I can only imagine if my dear friend Hatta showed up here, how he might change such things.) In lieu of him, though, my own hat has arrived here today, quite unexpectedly. Its powers still seem to be in tact, as well, which is even more unexpected than its presence here.

How does one find a job here, if the employ they once had no longer exists?

I was a Court Joker to the King of Hearts. No such King exists here, nor any other monarch to serve. Prior to being the Court Joker, I only knew life to be in war, and I have no desire to return to such things.

But I am certain I do not want to eat Cath out of house and home (what a delightful turn of phrase), so it seems I should find an income of some means.

Cath offered me a free meal, which I guess she does for all the new arrivals. And I accepted because why not? It was amazing. Best meal I've had in years. Maybe ever.

So now I have to find a job, because I need more of that.

My name is Jest. I am a Rook, from Chess and from Hearts. I have been here in New Asgard for one week's time, but there is much here I've yet to learn. Chess and Hearts are both very different from New York, and there are worlds beyond which stretch the imagination further still.

I am told that asking questions is how one ingratiates oneself to others. So tell me, then, what is the best food here in this world? Setting aside the obvious of Cath's creations at Sally's.
