Hello, all.

Kara graciously took care of my Stark Industries duties for the week so I can concentrate on things at the compound. I will be in my office during regular business hours, but I do ask that you send me a message before joining me since my children may be there at any time.

I arranged catered meals for everyone at the compound until further notice. I appreciate those sending food, but I don't want anyone to burn out.

Birthday celebrations will continue as normal. Everything, in fact, will continue as normal. My husband is not dead so please do not act as if-

I've trained my entire life to defeat a robot who killed my parents.

I've fought drones and even the Hulk once, sorta.

I've been training here, along side other heroes, and I've been doing portal security.


Never, have I ever, been trained on what to do when a magic child yeets a alligator in a crown at me.

[OOC: A couple of hours after this event, Steve gathers whoever he can into one of the conference rooms at the Facility to give as much info as he can on what transpired. He's asked Cisco to be there to help explain the portal science to anyone who has questions, and any of the science team to back him up--though he understands that they're incredibly busy, and doesn't want to pull them from their work.

For those who aren't at the Facility for the announcement--which is full of hope, and "we will find him, it just might take some time..." Steve posted the following to the network.]

For those of you who haven't heard, there was an experiment this morning in the Portal Lab. Tony and a group of scientists were attempting to hone in on a specific person's world by determining that person's specific frequency. They opened a portal to what they thought was a safe world. After a couple of unmanned tests through the portal and back again, Tony stepped through in his Iron Man suit. We lost communication with him, and after a few minutes, the portal closed.

Our Science Team is working on opening the portal back up again so we can get Tony back. We are working tirelessly to get to the bottom of this. Until then, I ask that if you have any expertise to share, please do so. If you need counseling services, please reach out. I know that Tony was a much-beloved leader for all of us, and having him missing is a horrible blow. But we will get him back. It just might take some time.

This time last year I was starting final preparations for ascension.

Hey, so Bucky said I should probably tell you about my plans.


So uh, you know I never went to school... apocalypses and like, living in Antarctica, you know how it is. I mean, Tony made sure we weren't dumb but like... it was really just sort of more based on our skills. Like he probably taught Pym geometry but like, I wasn't really into it. And, anyway when we spent 9 months in Babrie-land, I did some high school. I don't really want to do it again.

So, I asked Bucky if I could work on portal security. Cause like, I don't want to do school. I don't know what the point would even be, yanno?

Buck said that I should test or something, but I don't think I'd pass that. Besides, I'm a refugee, they can't make me go to school.

Guess we're doing this every month now.

For those who don't know me, I'm James Barnes. Tony Stark put me in charge of portal security, so I know a lot of you already.

Stark is talking about doing another portal test in the coming weeks. Something safe. He is going to do a drill before he does it, and that means we will be evacuating the facility as if there were a crisis. Don't worry, there will be plenty of warnings first.

I'll let everyone knows when it's coming up and the day of. There will be further instructions for what to do, too.

The Portal Security team also has a training session tomorrow where we'll be going through some stuff. We have two more spots available if anyone is interested and can commit full-time. It would really be nice not to have to pull 12-hour shifts.

Sorry to be a party killer, but I was thinking, it might be a good idea to start training those who are guarding the portals to have some kind of formal training. It will help make things a little more consistent around here.

The weather's so beautiful, it's a shame to be stuck indoors all day. I'm going to do some grilling for dinner tonight, if anyone's interested. Hot dogs and hamburgers. I've also got some sports equipment if anyone wants to play; baseball equipment, frisbees, footballs, soccer balls... I'll be out there all afternoon and evening if anyone wants to join me.
