Buildings don't just randomly appear, right? Ones attached to the ground, at least. Especially tall ones.

Right?

That wasn't there an hour ago.

[OoC: A very tall (at least 100 storeys) fairytale-type tower has appeared at the Avengers Compound, with ivy all up the outside of it, a little wooden door at the bottom, and a round room with a pointy roof right at the top. No idea what's at the top, happy to find out!]

Last month was my own birthday.  Today...  today is the birthday of someone very important to me. A young man I was mentoring. My protege, I suppose you could say.

That boy saved me, as much as I once saved him.

And I can't help but wonder how he's doing without me. I have every faith in him, that's he'll be a fine Hero one day... but... I worry.  There are dark and powerful forces that will have him in their sights. He's already faced so much...

If anything happens to him...

I don't know that I've ever felt more powerless than I do right now.

So today's my birthday. I'm turning fifty.

But it feels like I'm even older. I was a Pro Hero for over thirty years. Basically spent my entire adult life fighting against the forces of evil.

I've had a few friends. And the closest thing I had to family died when I was eighteen.  At least until Young Midoriya...

 A few years ago, I was told I'd be dead in seven years. That's almost now.

Guess I'm still here.

Forgive an old man's rambling. I'm just feeling... out of sorts today, I suppose.

Is it just me, or did the temperature pop up over the last few days? Think it's wishful thinking to hope that Spring has finally sprung?

This place is so strange.

In a good way!

But, I am still getting used to the weird things called automobiles, and my attempt to not get it. Plus clothing. How do people figure out their sizes in clothing here? And corsets no longer exist?

People at school are talking non stop about Spring break and going away for the holidays. But if the weather warms up, I think the beach at New Asgard is better than most for surfing. Though that’s a big if, I guess. I plan on eating a lot of chocolate and wading through my assignments.

Are we doing anything for Stiles’ Birthday on the 8th? It’s the day after the full, but hopefully you won’t be super tired.

I spent over thirty years of my life as a Pro-Hero in my universe, and in the last year, I was a teacher of young heroes. I honestly can't remember the last time I took time to just be myself. In truth, I'm not sure I even remembered who Toshinori Yagi was.

It's been a nice break.  In as much as I try not to worry about the students I left behind. Especially Young Midoriya. Is he in danger? Is he safe? That boy...

But inaction doesn't suit me.

I'm open to suggestions on what I might do, however. I know there's young heroes here as well, though from what I'm given to understand, most of them already have more experience than my students back home. 

But I desperately need a purpose again.

Two weeks have gone, and I've only scratched the thinnest membrane of this wild and wondrous world. I have yet to plumb the depths of such a luscious fruit!

I'm not so oblivious or wrapped up in my own discoveries not to sense the overhanging mood among my fellow refugees. How do you all fare, my loves and lovelies?

My name is Toshinori Yagi and I hope you'll forgive any errors in spelling or grammar.  English is not my first language, though I consider myself fairly fluent, having spent several years here in the past.

Though I suppose in some way that's well and truly in the past. If the calendars here are anything to go buy, this is nearly two hundred years behind my home universe.

I'm still trying to process all of this. I've seen a great many strange things in my life, but nothing quite like this. Though the super-human abilities are really nothing new. Where I'm from, it's actually far rarer for people not to have a power. Super-Heroes too, are actually quite common. I know I'm not much to look at now.... but I actually was one myself.

I realize that I seem to have arrived at a rather inopportune time. You have my prayers that your friends shall be returned to you safely.


[Medical]

I'll be honest: I am not a well man. That I'm still walking around at all is a testament to medical science. But I am have a greater number of health conditions and am on a number of medications, including quite a few supplements. I think a check-up is in order?
