We're doing a movie marathon in the Rec Room. Starting with buddy-comedies all day (Step Brothers, Tommy Boy, etc.) and then some horror movies after dinner. (I'm ordering pizza. Because pizza.)

I've got Twitch with me, if anyone wants puppy cuddles, he volunteers. He also says that he'll put up with tummy rubs, too. Just in case you were interested in giving any of those.

Okay, so like... can we set up a broken hearts support group this Februrary? Because we've all been through so much shit around here, I'm sure we need it.

Although, I'll shoot arrows at anyone who suggests a "Galentines" or whatever the fuck that shit is. As if guys and gals can't have platonic support over this stupid in-your-face holiday.

Maybe we can do some horror movie marathons to take our mind off the hearts and red and chocolates.

I was happy to have my lab here, but the portal saw fit to take half my staff. Now I'm not sure anymore. Should anyone have interest in science, It's..quite large and has plenty of space.

New Year’s Eve at Threshold

I’ve been reading the James Bond collection, and was inspired to throw the kind of soirée 007 might attend in the line of duty. Lots of champagne and rose water, to pop corks at midnight, music and entertainment, plus plenty of cocktails and canapés. Under 21 will need a wristband, but there will be lots of nonalcoholic options.

All these Christmas movies are the same. Girl finds guy who's new in the city in flannel who rescues her from bad or boring life style. Any guys in flannel out there want to Tell me why I am watching these? One set in New York, one set in Seattle. Only different one is the one set in Korea, and even that one is the same premise.

I guess I'm a masochist because these movies are pain. And yet here we are.

I have a feeling there are a lot of us around here who are going to be lonely this holiday season. A lot of our friends were sent back through the Portal, and that leaves many of us with holes in our hearts. Not sure anything in the world will be able to fill such a hole, but at least we don't have to go through it all alone.

So here's my suggestion: We put together a calendar of activities for many of the nights leading through December and into January--movie nights, dinners, games, etc.--and all are welcome to attend.

I had a friend back home, Marissa.  Her family would make lists of what they were thankful for each year.  I didn't have never did it.  It seemed like a nice way of finding the good, so I decided to give it a go.

Things I'm thankful for:
Freedom
Food that's safe to eat. Also cooking.
Art galleries and the museum of art, art in general.
The chance to get an education. Also learning things in general.
Nature, especially animals, forests and mountains.
Music.
Scarves

Many of the Asgardians living here in New Asgard have decided to decorate according to Midgardian customs. The wintertime holidays are lovely here, and my people have adopted them whole-heartedly. Though, it is quite a mish-mash of colors and designs.

I would encourage you all to come and visit--have a cup of coffee at Sally's, take a walk along our streets--and enjoy the decorations.

Courney's put up the tree, and the place is already feeling a bit more jolly. I've got some lights strung up around my office, too. Always loved the holiday season. Christmas is the holiday I celebrated as a kid, so it's got a soft spot in my heart... but I like all of the wintertime holidays.

Hope yours are joyful this year, even though everything.

I don't care if it is before Thanksgiving, my Christmas tree is up!

But I need to decorate the rest of the place too.

I am not ashamed to admit that I'm one of those people who skips over Thanksgiving in favor of the December holidays. My family celebrates Christmas. I grew up in the Episcopal church, so we had St. Nicholas Day and Midnight Mass and Epiphany. But we were also part of the generic American culture that celebrates Christmas as a secular holiday, too, so I also celebrated with Rudolph, Frosty, and Santa. As soon as the Daylight Savings Time hits, I'm ready to wear my red, plaid, flannel PJs and drink mint hot chocolates.

I'd love to hear more about what your wintertime traditions are, too. Maybe we can all celebrate together this year.
