While everyone's waiting for the reveals post to go up, we thought we'd
bore baffle entertain you with this year's Wacky Stats. For the sake of comparison, here are the previous stats from
2011,
2010, and
2009.
This year we're looking at a grand total of
43 pieces.
Let's see how we can break this number down...
Slash: 26
Het: 12
Femslash: 5
Other/mixed/uncategorizable: NONE! (Really, we're a bit shocked and appalled! Where are all the gender ambiguous plants and sex change potions this year?? ;D)
Interestingly, the percentages of pieces containing slash/het/femslash remained extremely close to what we saw last year -- which is to say, het is somewhat up and femslash is significantly up from what we were seeing two or three or more years ago.
Speaking of diversity and variety...
Our 43 pieces featured
43 different characters! That's a huge increase in unique characters relative to total pieces over previous years. It seems that minor characters aren't so minor anymore!
In the way of less common characters, we'd like to welcome a few newcomers. We're fairly certain
(and feel free to correct us if we're wrong) this is the first time Kinky Kristmas has featured Abraxas Malfoy, Eileen Snape, Gellert Grindelwald, Marcus Flint, Poppy Pomfrey, and Rita Skeeter! Also, welcome back to Horace Slughorn and Rufus Scrimgeour, who both only appeared once before, in 2009!
So, who were our most ((cough))
popular characters this time around?
After achieving the title of Mr.
Promiscuity Popularity for several years running, Severus Snape was finally knocked out of the top position -- by none other than Harry Potter! Ouch, Severus. That has to sting! (Perhaps in more ways than one...)
So, yes.
Harry comes in first, having appeared in
12 pieces (i.e. 28% of our pieces featured the Chosen One)!
Snape was bumped down to second place with
10 pieces.
Draco grabbed third place with
8 pieces, and
Sirius held onto fourth place with
6. This means that our four most popular characters are the same as last year; they've just changed positions a bit. (Maybe their muscles were starting to cramp...?)
Honorable mention needs to go to
Neville and
Pansy for their
4 pieces each and to
Minerva for her
3.
Weasley fans, we're sad to inform you that their popularity dramatically waned this season. Although all seven
Weasley siblings made appearances, they only popped up (no pun intended) in 8 total pieces -- and two of those were when they were with each other! A matter of preference or necessity this year? Who can say...
Harry took over the top spot from Snape in another category this year. He managed to bed the greatest number of partners this time around -- which was a minimum of
10 or a maximum of
14. Unfortunately, Rita's candid photograph didn't reveal the exact identities of
the four fellows Harry was found fellating on one particularly steamy evening, so we can't be certain how many of them might have been repeat offenders.
In any case,
Snape was apparently feeling somewhat less social this year, since he slipped to second place with
8 partners.
Third place goes to a character who's never been on this list before at all --
Pansy with
7 partners! She seems to have a strong preference for her own sex, since five of her seven were women. The only two men in her life were Draco and Harry. Perhaps she would explain them off as an error of youth (Draco) and a matter of curiosity (Harry)??
Just after Pansy with
6 partners was
Draco. His partners were all men except for Pansy. Hmmmmm...! These two are definitely making us speculate a bit about the nature of their relationship over the years... Youthful experimentation? Strong polyamorous relationship? Or beards??
Well, following closely after Draco were
Ginny with
5 partners and
Sirius and
Neville with
4 each.
Most frequently featured pairings? Surprisingly, there weren't as many repeats as one would expect:
Harry/Draco: 3
Snape/Sirius: 3
Snape/Harry: 2
Sirius/Harry: 2
Soooo, who gets the award for Most Adventurous Sex Life in 2012? Well, we're going to have to go with
Ginny for this one. Although she only appeared in two pieces, one of those was an all-fem fivesome (which she instigated) and the other was with Tom Riddle (which, er, she also instigated)!
Most Unusual and Unexpected Pairing? While the wide range of characters and pairings makes a bit more difficult to choose this time, we're going to have to go with
Percy/Marcus -- particularly since big, burly Marcus turned out to be a bottom while bookish, bespectacled Percy topped! Way to defy those stereotypes, boys!
Congrats, everyone, for a most unusual and varied collection this year! Stay tuned for reveals in a little while...
