A/N Kelly, I know you're not supposed to start with apologies, but I must beg your forgiveness for taking longer than anticipated--life, computer issues and these ladies inability to get down and dirty from the get go slowed me down. Secondly, I don't know your head canon for this couple, but I had fun with the age disparity after reading that Hooch was probably a bit older than Minerva--I hope that's okay. And lastly, for the sake of this little PWPish ditty, lets pretend it takes place in a magical time where the Weasley's were old enough to not only create but improve their charm (or potion for this story) AND that Dumbledore was still alive and well and life was all about war and the life and death of it all.

~O~

“Welcome to another year at Hogwarts!” Dumbledore boomed.

Minerva sighed. Another year, another tedious Opening Ceremony. One could only feed off the nerves, excitement and terror of the First Years each year for so long before once again falling into the old routine. She lasted through the Sorting Ceremony because she was invested in that, but after, the speeches, the special announcements, the warnings that no one heeded, and all this before they even touched the food spread out before them, was all a bit much.

If she could just doze off from the moment that Sorting Hat was taken off the last student and sleep until the end of that ridiculous rendition of the supposed school song, she’d be forever grateful. And as she looked around the dais, she smirked that she clearly wasn’t the only one who thought similarly. Severus sat back in his chair picking imaginary lint from his robes and trying very hard to keep his amount of eye-roll to an acceptable level as Dumbledore rattled on about the virtues and vices of each House. Filius hid his droopy eyes behind a large floral arrangement and Septima was reciting formulas under her breath as she jotted down figures on the tablecloth with invisible ink.

The only one who looked at all interested in the goings on, was surprisingly, Rolanda. She was sitting up straight, her eyes were focused and she looked riveted. But, on closer inspection, Minerva realized it wasn’t really Dumbledore or his propaganda she was focusing on, it was her, Minerva. She bowed her head with a blush. Even now, this woman and her attentions to her was rather dizzying. She tried not to let her mind wander to where it wanted and stay there where she must be proper.

However, when she looked up, she was still staring intently and also indicating by raising her own glass and dragging her eyes from Minerva to her goblet, that they should drink. Minerva needn’t be told twice, no matter how proper she was to be, a few swallows of wine--or whatever was in her glass that she hadn’t noticed being filled--wouldn’t kill her. Still, by the way Rolanda’s eyes sparkled, by the unfamiliar smell and unusual color of the drink, she hesitated.

Again Rolanda guided Minerva with her eyes to the small bottle that had been placed beside the goblet. She picked it up and adjusted her glasses to read the small print.

Minerva only took a moment to consider before she shrugged, raised her glass and with a smirk towards Rolanda, brought it to her lips and waited for Rolanda to do the same.
