I am SO SORRY that I never comment on this fic properly. I have absolutely no excuse other than that my life has been absolute shit for the last, oh, seven years, give or take, and I've been in a wholly miserable place. I'm finally, finally ready and able to rejoin the land of the living -- or take a solid stab at it, at any rate -- and try to start making up for some of my abysmal failures of the last few years. So here is my sincere apology along with the latest comment in the history of late comments (whether you want either one or not!).
Of course, it's been so long since I first read this that I had to do a reread in order to comment properly. But that was not at all a hardship, I assure you. ;D I'd forgotten how much I loved this fic -- and your writing in general -- and I ate up every word of this reminder. I initially tried commenting in "running commentary" fashion, but gave that up when I realized I was quoting most of your fic back at you. So now I'm left floundering around for the words to construct a halfway adequate comment to describe all the things that are utterly fabulous here. I'm horribly out of practice, and I'm sure I won't be able to do it justice, but... here we go.
Aaaah, reading this reminded me of the incredible ability you have to do so much with so few words! We get not only the "main event," but all the backstory, the growing attraction, the first encounter, the buildup, the subtleties of the dance they have going on, heaps and gobs of characterization and relationship development -- all in 3,400 words somehow. There's so much tension that just never lets up.
Also, the structure of this is fantastic. It jumps around in the timeline, but does it so smoothly with Remus' train of thought. The shifts are seamless.
And your teenage Snape! He's absolutely perfect. All scowling and sarcastic and slinking and hunching and insulting... not particularly subtle, not able to keep his thoughts and feelings off his face like he is as an adult... but so very sharp and shrewd. YES.
Plus, massive extra points on top of that for making him this sort of unabashed, born for it bottom!Snape. *grin*
“So help me, Lupin,” Snape growled, “if you say ‘brilliant’ one more time, I’ll hex your mouth away. Now get yourself sorted, start shagging me properly, and while you’re at it, give me a bloody hand.” -- LOOOOL, leave it to Snape to say something like this with a cock up his arse! XD
And Remus too...! I remember now how much I always loved your Snupin -- and why. There's no meek, mild Remus here. He works with Snape here because he's able to let the sniping and insults roll off him without taking them seriously and because he has the patience and curiosity to attempt to understand Snape -- NOT because he's passive or weak.
He also had the pleasure of knowing that Snape was going to be annoyed and inconvenienced by this fact for at least the rest of the day.

By the way, did you know you’re incredibly loud when you’re getting nailed? -- He gives as good as he gets. His style of attack is completely different from Snape's -- and that's why they compliment each other so damn well here.
