THANK YOU!!! Gosh, it means a lot to me -- both the banter and the family dinner aspect! I worry that that stuff will feel inauthentic or something. I'm very happy it didn't!
Al/James/Scorpius ftw! I mean, dammit, I'm already seeing them teach shy Scorpius to just Top the HELL out of James! ;-) I don't know what's gotten into me. I mean, as notearchiver pointed out for herself, I tend to think of James as the Top. I love that. So I think, in a way, I wrote this (and, okay, 'Knock, Breathe' is bottom!James, too, but that's different) to see if I could convince myself of the veracity of a James who would bottom to his little brother. I think what I like about it (and you know I have zero negative value judgments on bottoming, but I think brothers WOULD, you know?) is that it becomes more Slytherin/Gryffindor than just strictly Top/bottom. Like, it all goes back to James sacrificing that game for Al. He'll give it all up for Al. It makes him happy. And I think, in a way, Al's honored by that. I dunno. I'm pondering out loud.
I mean, I also just think James loves a dick up his ass. But the fact that it's his little brother does bring in certain aspects of power imbalance. The idea of adding Scorpius is really exciting, because it's just another layer of that, and I think it could go several different ways with either the brothers double-teaming Scorpius (if he's a natural bottom and I could sooooo see that) or, like I said, bringing out Scorpius' confidence by teaching him how to Top, because what if there's this beautifully harsh Top hiding in there under the blushing?
