I love the way you integrated the lyrics seamlessly into the story so that they became part of it. And the story itself is amazing. There's no need to tell us that war is terrible and desperate, because we can see the way war is shaping all three characters (especially Kingsley and Severus). They make me think of the trees one sometimes find growing in dry, harsh terrain -- surviving on almost nothing, tenacious in their survival, damaged, but with a spare desolate beauty.
