I agree with sabethea there is a strange gentleness to the writing/characterizations here, even as it effectively describes the dirty, gritty feel of both the characters and their setting.
And while the sex is amazingly hot and uncompromising, Severus (actually Kingsley as well) gives off such a feeling of neediness and loneliness through Kingsley's observations that it's almost melancholy.
I could go on and on since there is a lot to love about this story, but not being all that articulate I'll just say, this was completely unexpected when I read the summary and the warnings. Well done!
