The pace and tone of this, just marvelous -- I really like how despite the suspicions and secrets and kink, there's this quiet haunting sense of Al exploring his father's past and his own relationship with him.
I love Sirius/Harry, so the implications here were terrific for me -- I like to think the Sirius/Harry was consummated in the past, though of course that's a bit ambiguous. But yes, Harry would have been the same age *shivers* -- and those hints of Sirius's presence that accompany the collar's use, the suggestion that Al becomes a conduit between Sirius and Harry even -- so well done.
Sirius (and that last remnant of him in his collar) becomes a nice stand-in for the ghost between father and son, all the things unspoken, whether they be desire on one side (from Al's side makes sense to me) or just a yearning for closeness that's hindered by difficulty articulating their feelings. Loved it.
