The pairing isn't one I'd think I'd like, but I do, and it's plausible, with their roles. I've had a similar sort of idea in my head for a Bellatrix/Hermione fic, with Hermione being fascinated and repulsed by the thought of Bellatrix, so powerful, etc. It's like you took the bare bones of an idea in my head and made them into a great fic, in a way I never would have imagined.
The details that Alastor obsesses over -- I adored those too. I love little details like that in fics that expand the Wizarding world, like her aunt owning elf factories. His last thoughts to himself as he dies are chilling, yet a perfect ending.
