Oooo. I immediately had to read this (though I should be finishing my own fic for today) but the way thegildedmagpie was flailing and squeeing about on the sofa across from me... truly quite impressive. :D And I fully see why!
This is glorious. I love the exploration of him and his egomania, the way he "understands' things so simply with his elegant assertions of "of course this is the reason". And that last line just demonstrates him so well as a "I'll do what I want and it's not because i can't do it how I planned but because I know how to do it this way."
Apparently I'm just not capable of writing a Lord V who is not melodramatic and over-the-top. Snake-like megalomaniacs with fragmented souls seem to do that to me. You and me both! :P He's by nature rather melodramatic, but it totally works on him and here.
It's also wonderfully hot, especially here: he had spread herself open for him, had offered her pale skin to be marked by his teeth and his hands, and had come all the harder when he'd bruised her.
