Daily Deviant
- there is no such thing as 'too kinky'

Something rises up inside me that I don't ever want to name, and I turn my head and mouth at his Dark Mark. My lips tingle. Snape hisses something incomprehensible, yanks on my hair, and presses his forearm into my face. This is twisted and perfect, and I love how their hungers and their damage match. It's the second instance that defines this fic for me. And I can see Snape getting off on Moody's helpless response to Darkness, how it's degrading and exciting for both of them.

He's got triumph in his eyes when he's done, and I know he's thinking that he's managed two orgasms to my none. Oh God, Snape the barely post-adolescent dickhead! And Moody, knowing exactly what that self-congratulatory innocence means.

This boy belongs to me, not to a bleeding Dark twat who got his arse handed to him by a toddler. Another line I love for being so perfectly Moody and funny as hell and fierce in its claim. There's a tenderness about Moody that gets past his crustiness - the way he circled Snape's wrists and marveled at them, for instance - which gives him a delicacy at odds with his Dark kink and hard-assed competence. It makes him the right person to initiate Snape into the complexities of getting fucked. And yet…the Mark is all about possession, and Snape is terribly susceptible to being 'owned.' So there's a touch of unease as well.

Moody holding Snape's Marked arm over his head is a breathtaking moment, a perfect counterpoint to Snape rubbing the Mark in Moody's face. The various threads are sublimely handled here; Snape's the more dangerous and volatile, but there's never a moment that Moody doesn't have the upper hand.

"You're not as good as the one I was saving myself for," he says, a flash of pain and sorrow in his eyes, "but you'll do." Wow, this line is a killer. The anguish, the pragmatism, the insult and gratitude; a subdued little knife-twist to the heart. It's the third time the fic turns on its pins and reveals more than I ever expected. Because - oh God - Snape was saving himself for Lily, who didn't want him, and now she's dead and he's still untouched and he seriously believes he's going to die, and he needs someone to do for him what Lily never did and now never will. Not to mention that Moody, unlike Lily, connects with Snape's innate darkness, which must be incredibly freeing.

This is so much larger than a story about a seduction, even though it's artfully brief and wouldn't seem to have room for all the things it implies. It gave me positive shivers of pleasure and satisfied my character-kink like you wouldn't believe. Brava for such a perceptive, emotionally sneaky, utterly lustful, and brilliantly written fic.
