OMG, Mystery Artist, I can't even begin to tell you how much I love this. I just keep coming back to stare at it. I LOVE that the viewer has to look at it for a few moments to see what's really there, because it's exactly the opposite of what we'd expect.
Fred's pose and expression make him look like the perfect predator. And George is certainly prey, but in the emotional sense. He looks so full of want and desperation and anguish. The contrast in skin tones is fantastic; George is flushed and warm while Fred is all purples and, well, dead... but they still have the same red hair -- a great, painful reminder of exactly who they are. The shadows falling across them just complete the eerie atmosphere.
Simultaneously horrific and beautiful. Amazing work.
