We often forget that passion has roots in misunderstood lust as well as anger. You do a wonderful job making the point that Sirius hides things so well--even from himself--that it takes a fumble with a potion to bring it to light.
"Lupin, you are not seriously trying to convince me that Black has some sort of… feelings for me." The very idea was beyond ridiculous and well into the realm of inconceivably absurd.
"That's exactly what I'm trying to convince you of."
"And that's why he almost killed me when the potion wore off."
"Actually, it is. Don't you get it? He was absolutely mortified that he'd given so much away."
That part makes this more than just a PWP. It takes it to a whole 'nother level of angsty romance with potential. *sigh* So good!
I'm also lucky I didn't see this when I was much more awake or I'd be tongue-tied and happily speechless! *grin* A bit of sleeplessness helps keep the hootin' and hollerin' to a minimum.
