Such an enjoyable, well-done story. I don't think there's too much set-up or background at all; I agree with leni_jess that it helps give the shading and context necessary for a good (as well as hot) story. The boys are fun, but for me, it's Minerva who makes this piece. I love your version of her: you've nailed her canonical precision and devotion to standards and coupled those with an equally-believable confidence in herself and matter-of-fact, comfortable acceptance of her preferences and pleasures and needs.
And Lucius is so...wonderfully Lucius: in a single elegant, efficient gesture, he finds the perfect gift for MM and the perfect way to store a now-inconvenient keepsake. Just what I'd expect of a Malfoy.
Stuff I really liked:
--Minerva's toys, and the way she bargains for her first purchase (of course she would), and god, her stamina! --this line: but the joy of painted erotica was that no such distraction was necessary Ditto the joys of fanfic (plus, the wording is so nicely Minerva) --your cleverness about the differt types of portraits --your excellent additions to MM's art collection (and the "disconcerting encounter" with the squid -- ahaha) --the hilarious way you incorporate the wording of the original work--"Slytherin guys" -- ha --there were times when having the ability to lick your own genitals was deeply satisfying in so many ways laughed aloud at this. And damned if it isn't completely IC, in its way. --That last line -- just so exactly the Minerva I love to love.
