The original is great - I LOVE that you took the potential for hurt in it and completely fucking grabbed onto it (and that you extended it a manner so in keeping with Fleshdress' style, although perhaps that meshing is part of the reason the story is one of your favourites, and hah, too many words in this set of parentheses). Because, well, one of the things you do particularly fabulously well is hurt.
And then you went and made it all better :). Except, well, they're still kinda touchy about it all, huh. So it's not completely perfect or anything, which just excellent.
