I wanted to read this, but hesitated because I can become physically sick for hours over a well-written Snarry or Snupin that ends hopelessly sad. So I actually read the last couple lines before I began at the beginning. I don't think anyone understands, but I prefer to be spoiled because that way I know it's okay to get into the fic and let myself feel.

Anyway, this is really magnificent. Harry feeling forced to confess, the real reasons for his infidelity, his realization that he doesn't really love Charlie... Snape wrecking his lab and then going out to get drunk, and the angry, almost hate sex... but most of all the fact that Snape could never, not ever, forgive or forget - That destructive inability to let go of past hurts is basic to his personality.

And you found a way to write all of that and still not end in blackness, for which I love you. I could not imagine how you were going to manage that until I read the word “Obliviate.” That was such a perfect solution. Harry didn't get off free, because he still has his guilt to live with, and now that he has actually experienced what happened and how unbearable the consequences, he'll never think of cheating again.

I am always joyful to see that you've written more Snarry, but I'm not among those hoping for a sequel. I don't know where you could go with this that wouldn't be really dark.

Hm... I just realized that I can imagine a universe in which the Obliviate didn't really work, and Snape knew it wouldn't, but pretended it did... Gads, that would take a whole essay to explore!
