Thanks for all the kind words -- the main concept just came from what I see as Percy's complete self-absorption and self-delusion from Goblet of Fire through the end of Deathly Hallows. As the song goes, he believes that he can't be wrong. I don't think he'll slip further -- he's just found a way to deal with his issues without having to accept any responsibility, and let's face it, he's never been particularly good in the social realms, unlike Bill, Charlie, the Twins and Ginny (and Ron to some extent).
