Thank you so much for taking the time to make such a thoughtful comment! I'm really glad the characterization came through. Poor Remus! I actually ship Snape/Lupin, but uhm, not when he's like this. D: I did try to stick as close to canon characterization as I could, while still trying to make the SS/SB part more than hate!sex. In all the characters' defense, this was that awful period during the First War when enemies were around every corner and people were doing things they might not have otherwise (except for James, who is always a total jackass with Snape, AFAIC.) ;-)
I'm so glad you liked this. I actually didn't set out to write quite so troubling a fic, but some stories get the bit in their teeth and just run off with you, and there's nothing to do but hang on and go with it. :)
