Remus leaned on the doorframe, arms crossed over his chest, head cocked to one side. He would have been the picture of ease if it weren't for the hard, flat look in his eyes. Sirius was fucking Severus Snape into the wall and all Remus could think was, He's supposed to be mine.

Which man he meant, Remus didn't know.

The veil had spit out Sirius Black like it was a contest for distance - the man had sailed across the room and hit the far wall with enough strength to shatter his ribcage. If only his mind had been as easily fixed as the bones in his chest. Months of aggressive therapy had left Sirius a frightened bird of a man, flinching and twitching at noises louder than the whistle of a teakettle. But at least Remus had been able to take him home; not to Grimmauld Place - Remus had sold it when Harry died defeating Voldemort - but to the cottage he had bought well outside of Carlisle.

Severus had shown up with Minerva on her first visit since Remus brought Sirius home, and Remus could almost see the red mark on his ear where Minerva must have pinched to drag him along. After a stern look from his Headmistress, Severus had offered Wolfsbane, pain and calming potions, and monthly visits had been arranged. Remus had looked forward to both the renewed chance to make peace with the reappointed Hogwarts Potions Master, and for the curious effect Severus had on Sirius. For the few hours Remus could cajole Severus into staying at the cottage, Sirius had either hovered near them and sulked quietly, or he had, on a few occasions, even entered into spats with Severus. Both responses were more than Remus had been able to achieve alone.

In a year they were each much improved, thanks to Severus' visits. Remus' recovery time shortened after each transformation; Sirius became stronger and, if not more like the boy he once was before Azkaban, at least somewhat less like the angry man who had haunted Grimmauld during the Order's first year there. He still mourned Harry, they all did, but Sirius no longer spoke in terms of not deserving to be alive. Enough tales of Harry's determination and bravery to the end convinced Sirius it would be a dishonour to the boy's memory not to stake out a life of his own.

At first, he had tried gardening in a thinly veiled attempt to correlate growth with living, but he was bollocks at it and Remus had to take over before the entire backyard was choked by flitterblooms. Through more trial and error, Sirius had settled into woodworking, making a variety of furnishings and bric-a-brac using a combination of Muggle tools and transfiguration for the finer decorative elements. Remus helped where he could and handled all the business transactions for selling the furniture once the garage became too full. Between the small inheritance Harry left Remus and the proceeds from furniture and garden sales, they lived comfortably, if not extravagantly.

It all came to a head when Sirius and Severus got into a roaring argument after Severus had made a remark that sounded dismissive of Harry. Unfortunately Severus had been too proud to correct Sirius as to the innocence of the statement. Remus had ended up having to hex them both with Petrificus before they came to blows, but secretly he had been pleased because that day he knew Sirius was as "back" as he was ever going to be. On the same afternoon, Severus had spent hours ranting about how dense Sirius could be, how could he think even Severus would sink so low as to denigrate Potter after the boy had cleared his name, and didn't the mutt have anything better to do than attack those who were merely trying to assist his lover?

Remus had quietly corrected Severus as to his non-sexual status with Sirius and continued pruning the rose bushes, separating out the greenest stems for Severus' use. The angry man had calmed after that, remaining uncharacteristically silent until he could take the stems and make his leave. Afterward, Severus began to visit more than once a month, though he always came with a ready excuse.

It had been a revealing day, one that left Remus with thoughts and desires, weighing pros and cons. He eventually convinced himself that he was confused and consumed enough by them to make one rule, which he followed for the next year: Do not get involved with either man. They each appealed to him in their beloved, frustrating ways, but to try a relationship with one over the other would be a mistake that could cost him both Sirius and Severus - a chance he couldn't take if it meant the sacrifice of the peace and friendship he had finally established with them.


If Remus had known resisting the pull of both men would throw them into each others' arms, he'd have saved himself the year of celibacy and shagged them both.

As it was, he couldn't help noticing how well they fit together. Sirius was scant inches taller than Severus and plastered against him, buried to the hilt and fingers tangled over Severus', pinning their joined hands to the wall. Remus couldn't see Sirius' face because it was burrowed into the crook of the other man's neck, but Severus' head was turned to the side, his crooked nose standing out in relief against blue paint, eyes squeezed shut and mouth hanging open, frozen in concentration. They had both lost that too-thin look and Sirius had regained some of his former muscle while Severus revealed a body that could best be described as "long" in every way. Watching Sirius' arse flex, the strokes almost leisurely, Remus decided that none of them were the specimens they once were in their youths, but that they had aged as well as anyone could reasonably expect, considering one was a werewolf, the other a resurrected ex-convict, and another an embittered spy of 20 years and life-long potions expert.

Severus was panting audibly as Sirius glided smoothly in and out of him. They seemed determined to take their time, both completely naked with Sirius using his entire body to rub along Severus' while he worried the thin skin low on the other man's neck with his teeth. Their nudity told Remus that this was no hurried coupling born in the heat of the moment - they had done this before.

Remus was hit with a dozen remembered images at once - Severus' glares softening toward Sirius, claims of not knowing how Quidditch Monthly got into the pile of newspapers Severus brought Remus, a recent conversation when Severus deemed Sirius "tolerable," as close to a declaration as Remus had ever heard from the man. Obviously, Remus thought as he listened to the soft sucking noises filling the room, the Potions master's feelings toward his friend had become something deeper. What he didn't understand and left him trembling with suppressed rage was why they would choose to shag where they could be found out, here in the garage without silencing spells or locking charms.

"We grew tired of waiting for you."

Remus didn't remember Severus shifting, but he was thoroughly caught in the stare of the man's eyes now, neck craned around in what must have been a painful position to hold. He had the distinct impression that Severus was speaking of a waiting that was longer than just the time it took for Remus to miss them in the house. Sirius kept moving, appearing completely unfazed by Severus' statement, and a look of longing shaded Severus' eyes a moment before he closed them again, giving in to a short moan. Sirius scraped his teeth over the ridge of Severus' spine as he lifted his head. "Moony, please-"

Before Remus could fully realize that it was the first time Sirius had used his nickname since he returned, Sirius had pulled Severus from the wall and spun them around. Now he was the one resting against the painted smooth plaster, hips still tilted up into the other man, with his arms running alongside Severus' and their clasped hands folded across Severus' chest. Remus could see the contrast of sallow against ruddy tan and the glistening of moisture at the tip of Severus' cock, dark red in its stiffness, and he felt his anger turn into an altogether different kind of energy. Sirius' eyes over Severus' shoulder held a more naked expression of need and wanting.

"You don't have to choose," Sirius said, and Severus nodded.

Bastards. He had never realized he had been in a position to choose or not choose as the case may be. It was frustrating that they already knew, perhaps for months, what Remus was only just now understanding. His mind whirled with implications - how long had they known his desires and were they only with each other for his sake or were they letting him in because they felt sorry-

"Stop thinking, Lupin. Take your bloody clothes off and get over here. Now!"

Remus supposed they had ample time to sort out the issues that might stand between them later; one more reason for the eternal ache of Harry's passing. They had both shown him their desire for him, so he decided to reject the idea that this was a pity fuck and worry about the rest in due time. He did take off his clothes slowly, teasing them a little to gage their reactions, and he was pleased at the hungry looks on both their faces as he revealed his own faintly scarred, lightly furred body to them - Severus for the first time and Sirius not since well before Azkaban. Severus' cock wobbled as he approached, and Remus concluded that Sirius was making helpless, shallow thrusts into Severus' arse while still keeping the other man from touching himself with their locked hands.

"He's teasing you, isn't he?" Remus murmured as he walked right into Severus, pressing him firmly back against the other man and ghosting breath in his ear briefly on the way to claiming a deep kiss from Sirius over his shoulder. He could feel Severus' cock twitching against his stomach, pressed alongside his own surging length. Sirius finally let go of Severus' hands and both sets reached out to grab at Remus' hips and arms, holding him to them as he and Sirius continued to probe each others' mouths as if they had never missed a step from their teen lust. Remus could feel Severus' shallow pants of breath blowing the hair away from the shell of his ear, and he pulled away from Sirius to brush his lips once against Severus' mouth in greeting before plundering it even more thoroughly than his friend's.

Suddenly, Remus understood Sirius' fixation as his mouth was flooded with Severus - a flavour Remus thought he could never describe more than being exactly what a man should taste like. Meanwhile, all of their hands were as busy as their mouths. Severus' fingers were alternately tapping and scraping along Remus' shoulders and up the column of his neck to grip lightly where his hair was thickest at the base of his skull, repeating the pattern with enough variation that Remus felt that if he wasn't connected to Severus' mouth, his head might have floated away. The palms of Sirius' labour-roughened hands smoothed up Remus and Severus' sides and rubbed over the curve of Remus' hips, sometimes gripping only briefly as if he were resisting smashing their bodies together by pulling Remus closer. His own hands wormed their way between the other two to find Sirius' pebbled nipples and torture them with light pinches and twists. Sirius nudged his jaw for attention and Severus twisted his head to rasp his tongue over Sirius' stubble, and then kisses and licks became fluid between them, until Remus felt Severus' gasp as Sirius writhed with the need to move.

They had been on the edge for longer than Remus, but he wasn't willing to change their positions, not when Sirius was most able to support their weight against himself and the wall. Remus took half a step back and felt his heart give a double-beat at the look of sheer panic on Sirius' face and the way Severus closed his expression. In some sense, it was a relief to know he wasn't the only one who'd had concerns about how this would work out, but before they lost too much momentum, Remus touched their temples and shook his head with a gentle smile. Wait.

He ran his hands down both their sides in a calming motion while he considered the logistics of what he was about to try. When he stopped moving and stepped forward again, his hands were on Severus' hips. Remus concentrated and managed to cast two long-unused lubrication spells, one renewing whatever Severus and Sirius had used before and the other coating his own thick length. Then he pulled Severus forward and met him with a thrust of his own hips, frotting against him before pushing him back onto Sirius' cock. Severus groaned and Remus felt the tension leave the other man as he gave himself over to what Remus wanted to do.

Repeating the move a few more times, Sirius wholly reliant on Remus to move Severus onto him, Remus hummed as the sensitive skin of his shaft slid against Severus' and both their bellies, causing a slow-growing flame within him. The impish knowledge that he was fucking Sirius with Severus only added to his rising passion. Sirius' hands came to rest just above Remus' and then it became a tug-of-war between them, with Severus' body already the prize. For his part, Severus held on to Remus' upper arms and laid his head back against Sirius' shoulder, watching Remus through pleasure-slitted eyes and content to let them maneuver his body however they wished.

For Remus, it was intense. Grasping, pulling and thrusting did not lessen the impact of a familiar soft cry followed by a startling low moan. They established a rhythm, perfected it, then pushed it, having waited long enough, perhaps even a lifetime, to find this release together. Severus, caught between Sirius unerringly finding that spot with almost every snap of his hips and Remus' slick heat gliding along his own, came with a strangled shout that Remus privately promised himself would be a scream next time. Sirius flung himself forward, holding onto both of them and panting "bugger, fuck, God, hell" in Severus' ear as he throbbed in release.

They came to their senses as Remus remembered to start breathing again. Severus smirked and caught Sirius' eyes for a moment, and Remus suspected the other man had used some form of Legilimency, because their next moves were too coordinated to be coincidence. Severus slid down Sirius' body, resting lightly against his bent legs just as Sirius hauled Remus into his arms over Severus' body. The result was a dual assault on his cock and mouth that left Remus screaming and pulsing down their throats in shameless seconds.


For several minutes, the room was filled with the sounds of their breaths, random gasps for air that slowed into almost coordinated breathing. Eventually, though, Severus walked his fingers along Remus' thigh and found support on his hipbones, pulling himself up slowly so the other two had time to part and make room for him. Remus stepped back and Severus stepped forward and Sirius held his hands out until they came back to help pull him upright from the wall. His knees had locked up and he turned in circles, shaking his legs out, which had Severus and Remus working to suppress mirth at how ridiculous the action looked on a naked man. Cleansing spells were cast all around.

Remus was the first to be fully dressed, putting back on only his jeans and shirt before draping himself across the doorframe once again, arms poised above his head and hands dangling loosely from his wrists. He saw Sirius and Severus trade apprehensive looks, and was amused at their completely different approaches to what they thought was impending doom. Sirius left his shirt unbuttoned, and put on his best puppy-dog eyes, trying to hit Remus in both his sympathy and lust centers at the same time - exactly the way he used to when they were dormmates in Hogwarts. Severus dressed with his back to them and made sure his armour was in place, every button buttoned and every wrinkle smoothed. Only then did he turn to present a face blank enough to fool a blind man. Remus stared back at them and raised an eyebrow in question.

"I should be going," Severus said, making a move toward the door Remus was blocking. "I shall return next month with-"

"You're mine now." There was gravel in Remus' tone, his voice rough from screaming, and it stopped Severus in his tracks. "Both of you." His eyes flicked to Sirius' and he saw the other man relax immediately, unlike Severus, who remained standing, straight and aloof a few feet away. Remus met Severus' gaze and spoke with the weight of memory.

"You know how much I am willing to sacrifice to hold on to what I think is mine."

Severus' eyes flashed, and Remus knew he was remembering all the times he had failed Severus so that he could protect his friends, Sirius, and his pride. However, an endless minute later the full scope of Remus' statement settled on him and Remus nodded as Severus' stance relaxed. With a hint of warmth, Severus said, "Takeaway, then."

It wasn't a question and Remus knew the other man most likely needed space to sort things out in his overly active mind. He shifted to allow Severus room to pass, though not so much that he could avoid brushing past his chest. Severus paused just outside the door and scrutinized Remus one last time before striding away to the edge of the property to Apparate.

"He didn't think you'd want him."

Now it was Remus' turn to be wary as Sirius approached him and completely invaded his space by holding him loosely. "Before, you two were saying I didn't have to pick between you as if you both knew I wanted this."

"Yeah, well." Sirius shrugged and it pulled Remus into him, only they didn't stumble. He'd always known how to be in Sirius' arms. "I had to do a little convincing."

"A little?!" Remus pulled away. He couldn't analyze the slippery slope they were on when he felt so secure. "Sirius, you do understand that we have just agreed to a long-term relationship with each other and Severus Snape?"

"He looked at you," Sirius said in a faint, lost-boy voice that put Remus instantly on-guard. "First. And I saw you looking back. He only turned to me because I offered and he thought he couldn't have you, but at least he could be close to you. We're the only ones left, Moony, and I-" He swallowed hard and refused to look Remus in the face when he whispered, "I didn't want to get left behind."

Again echoed throughout the room as surely as if it had been spoken.

"Sirius." Remus put his arm around the other man's shoulders and ran a finger down his cheek before steering them out of the garage and toward the house. "That will never happen. I won't let it. I was seri- telling the truth when I claimed you both for my own. I'll fight for you both - even against each other."

That seemed to be good enough for Sirius because he ducked out from under Remus' arm and turned so that he was walking backward in front of Remus with a brazen grin. "You'd better. Snape has an arse to die for, but we still row as hard as we shag!" With that, he turned and ran for the house, only calling out "Race you!" when he had a good five yards on Remus.

He thought he had done pretty well, considering he was able to reach out and grab Sirius by the back of his shirt just before he tagged the house, and they were still wrestling in the late-summer grass by the time Severus reappeared. Neither of them tried to drag Severus into their tussle, and instead he waited with put-upon patience until the other men were through. Remus decided they had unwittingly set a necessary precedent for the struggle to come, entering the house as they did, all together.
